Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

I told FH that I planned to and hoped to recoup half the cost of the dress.

FH thought I should preserve it.

I was thinking that it would just clutter up the house. I am never going to wear it again and I highly doubt that my future daughter will. Fashion will change. I wouldn't expect her to wear it.

What the heck am I supposed to do with it?

Was wondering what other girls were doing...

Not selling mine. I definitely thought about it, but my mom was like 'There's no possible way I'm going to let you sell your dress!!!'

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

God No!
My aunt told me about her friend who had throw pillows made. I gave her a face and said 'I dont know if i could even cut my dress' and she brought up a good point....she said 'Well that way you can put them out on your bed and always have them...what are you going to do? Put it ion a box for the rest of your life???' I may consider it

I plan on having my future children's Christening gowns made from it....the skirt portion, anyway.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

As much as i would love to sell it after the wedding I really doubt anyone would pay very much for it when i am done with it IoI I am going to keep it and make christening gowns out of it or keepsake pillows.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

I didn't realize so many people planned to keep their dress!

My MOH gasped when I said I didn't want to keep it.

I just don't know where I am going to put it. My closet is overflowing as is!

I don't want mine either. We have no room for it and FH is jewish so we're not going to need any christaning gowns in the future. My mother was horrified when I told her that I wanted to sell it. Unless she offers to store it, then it's going up on ebay.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

If I actually buy a dress instead of getting my moms altered, then I will probably try to resell it. Especially if I spent mad loot on it...I will never wear it again, and Im not the type to take things out and look at them and be nostalgic. I know it would just take up space in a closet somewhere.

I still have mine, I plan on preserving it but I want to try it on one more time. I couldn't imagine selling it.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

I really want to preserve my gown. I would hope that one day my daughter (if we have one down the road) would want to wear it. I know what you mean about fashion changes but someone was telling me that they had their wedding gown designed and incorporated her mother's dress into it somehow which I thought was pretty cool.

I love my dress and could never see me getting rid of it. It is just sentimental i guess. I even want to preserve my bok.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

If I can get the berry stains out from rolling around in the dirt, I will sell it. I am VERY sentimental. I am keeping my groom forever

I just personally think it will be in a box in my basement, pretty much forgotten and just taking up space. I have my pictures and video to remember it. If we were having children I would have a christening gown made out of it but we're not so I see no reason to keep it.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

im keeping mine forever and hopefully passing it along depending on fashion. It was my grandmothers dress from the 40's and I am having stuffdone to modernize it. So it is very sentimental to me so I could never get rid of it. But if I had a newer one and needed to have the money, I may consider selling it. But Im a very sentimental person, so I dunno if i could even do that. My sister is considering having her dress shortened so she can wear it again.

Re: Do you plan to sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

mine is still laying in the bag on the floor in front of the tv from our wedding almost a month ago. DH told me I wasn't cutting up the dress for christening outfits, and he told me I needed to get it preserved.

He wants our future daughters to at least be able to see it and see if they want to wear it.

But, I still need to get it cleaned.
