do you really have to get a blood test every month while being PG?
Just wondering..I'm terrified of needles...so when the time comes i have to prepare myself

No... Right in the beginning they take a lot of blood at once, but after that, it may be 1-2 more times, depending. Every visit you have to pee in a cup though. I'm not sure what's worse!

I only had blood taken 2x's in 18 weeks and one was done by my choice for the AFP/Triple Screen.
I only had urine done once, some docs don't require for it to be done every visit. My ****** healthcare atleast doesn't.

You SHOULD only have blood taken at the first visit (or 2nd depending on your doc), 12 weeks if you decide to do the ultra screen, 16 wks if you decide to do the AFP, and about 26 wks when you get your gestational diabetes test. Other than that its peeing in a cup at every visit along with blood pressure and weight and USUALLY after 36 weeks they start doing internals. Oh and about 36-37 wks they do the Group B swab.

They might start checking your pee every visit as you get closer to your due date when preeclampsia becomes more probable. They check your pee for protein which is a sign of it.

Nope, they won't instead if I shows signs they will give me a 24 hour container. Base says there are too many pregos for them to check everyone each time especially since the lab is no where near the clinic. I don't even see a doc until my 30 week.. just nurses right now..
