Do you sometimes feel awkward talking to your single friends?
My best friend said she knew FH was different than the other guys because I acould actually shut up abut him for 2 seconds and I really didn't talk about him 24/7 like my other boyfriends. I was much more quiet. i guess because it was real.
but in general I've found over the years I really never say anything good about FH or brag about him or say how great our relationship is because I feel like no one wants to hear it, or I'm going to make my single friends feel bad
On the other hand, sometimes if I talk about being sad or unhappy, people will say 'At least you have someone who really loves you' or 'you have doug, you're getting married, you should be happy' I have some single friends (especially the ones who are near or in their 30's) who are really sort of jealous and/or resentful sometimes. Or my younger friends who are my age (early-mid 20's), I feel like they're just not that interested or they think I'm crazy for getting married so young, because they are at drastically different points in their lives from me. I haven't graduated college yet, so I'm behind in that regard, but they're all still at the stage where they go out to bars and clubs 3 nights a week, and they're talking about who's hooking up with whome, meanwhile I'm picking our china patterns and thinking about what makes a good marriage and what kind of setting is best for raising children.
Does anyone else feel ths way?
Actually all of this is addressed in a book called 'What No One Tells The Bride', and I really recommend it. I'm reading it, and it really shows all the sides, positive and negative about being engaged and making the transition into marriage.
It's just ever since I've been in such a serious relationship with FH, I feel more distanced from my friends, especially since most (95%) of them are single.
