I have the Dekor and I totally love it. I keep it right next to the bassinet in my room. I cannot imagine having to change her and then go to the kitchen to throw out the diaper in the middle of the night. Scott is in charge of throwing out the dirty diapers when it is full and my room never smells like diapers either.

I also use the Diaper Dekor and I love it too! Michele -my hubby is also in charge of changing the bag and throwing it out. I figure there are SOME things that I shouldn't have to worry about myself!!! But, yes, it's great! I've heard the Diaper Genie is good too, but I don't know personally...

I think theyre a waste of money and space. Just my opinion.
Id rather have a cute little piece of furniture/toy take up that space (I guess cuz our rooms are on the smaller side, so I value every inch ) and I cant imagine have dirty diapers sitting around. garbage and done with.
When I changed him in the middle of the night, I never went right back to bed. Id have to go to the kitchen anyway to prepare a bottle.

I also don't have one and don't miss it. I have little baggies that the diaper goes in. The bag gets tied shut and tossed in the trash, and the garbage gets put out daily. Nothing ever smells, and believe me... some of Nicky's diapers could be considered hazardous waste!

Well we have two changing stations. One upstairs in Adeline's room and one downstairs (pack n' play). We use the diaper dekor in Adeline's room and the regular trash downstairs. Since Adeline isn't sleeping in her room yet we don't use that one as much...so sometimes the diapers sit in there for awhile and the diaper dekor works really well. As for our regular trash downstairs that fills up pretty quickly with all our other trash so that is taken out pretty often.
So yes they work but they are not completely necessary.

I also don't have one because I thought it was a waste. I don't care if it makes it into a sausage or not, I personally don't want it sitting around in my house -- out the door it goes!!! The stinky diaper -- like little Nicolas, Gianna has some pretty potent ones -- it's amazing how such a small baby can produce SUCH A STENCH!!! -- anyway, the stinky diaper goes in a bag and then in the garbage and then out the door. Nothing ever smells.

Re: Do you think .................

I was all for the diaper genie since it worked so well- until recently. I got it because I have a dog that raids the garbage every once in a while and she will even open the diaper if it is in a small scented baggie. If you have a dog that goes through the garbage then it is a great idea. We emptied it every 2-3 days as it filled up. Since we recycle alot of items, we do not have a lot of garbage from the regular pails so I thought it would be better if the smell was contained in the genie. About 2 months ago (when she was 10 months) Annalise was on all finger food and switched to formula from breast milk. This caused major change sto her diaper smell and I noticed that when I twisted the top of the genie to conatin the diaper, it smelled for a few seconds. I used to keep the cover of it open and it never even smelled that way. When we change it the odor is so bad now we have to air it out and we spray it with Lysol. I have notoiced the same problem with several of my friend's diaper systems. Once I finish the refills I have, I am going to try the scented or produce bag method. You should make the decision based on your lifestyle, but I think I am getting rid of mine since the dog is not allowed in the nursery where I dispose of all diapers.
