Do you think a 9pm start for a reception is too late?

OK.. so I was just looking at my contract and the more I look at it the more I think that a 9pm start for a reception is rather late.. no?? we are having our ceremony there from 730-8pm, CH at 8pm-9pm, then reception at 9pm-1am.

Do you think I should ask them if I can start a half hour earlier?????

Personally, I would try to do it a little earlier then 9pm....even though it's only 30 minutes earlier but eaiting dinner at 10pm is late.

chrissy , my ch starts @ 7:30 - 8:30.. similar , i dont think thats really late .. imo

Technically, your party starts at 8 -which I think is perfectly fine, because mine does too!

My reception is gonna start at 8:30. We are having an hour and a half cocktail hour that starts at 7 pm. We are getting married on Memorial Day weekend so I want to give everyone the extra travel time.

Thanks girls... I think maybe I did that in the beginning cause it is on a Friday and people need to get home from work.. etc..

I dont think it is late, my reception starts at 8:30 so i really think its fine, what diff would a half hr really make?? IMO

For a Friday reception with the ceremony on site, I think it's just fine. You want people to have enough time to get home, freshen up and battle LIE traffic. Better later than earlier on a Friday night.

i think its fine your party starts at 8 tech. for CH and for a friday thats more convenient for guests who had to work.

chris, i think that's good for a friday. i actually never thought about that. i'm going to a wedding on friday and the ceremony is at 3. it's good that ur starting late that way everyone can go to the ceremony, the most important part!!

I went to a wedding there on a Friday that started at 8 (CH) and it was fine. No one left early and no one complained. How could they.

I don't think that is bad-we like the later weddings.

If it's on a Friday, that alots time for your guests to get ready and such. I don't think it's too late. Sometims we have too much time on hands to critic our decisions. t's not too late at all.

I think its okay. The CH starts at 8 so technically that is when your wedding starts. Its on a Fri you want to give people enough time to get there after work.

I think 9 is a little late but it depends on the day of the week,and considering its a Friday, I think 9 is fine. It gives everyone time to get there other than taking off work, or leaving early

I think the CH at 8 and then the reception at 9 is fine. I been to a Friday night wedding before and thats when it was. I think is just fine

On a Friday: I think later is a little better so then it will give people a chance to get home from work, change, get ready and make it there in time-- I think you will find MORE people coming to your ceremony if you do it this way. Plus, it's the summer time so it will still be light out until very late-- I think the way you have it is good!
