Do you think I can pull a wedding together in 7 months?
Original post by paintbrush91
We are trying to decide to wed this summer or the summer of '05. '05 seems so far away. However, do you think it is crazy to only leave 7 months to plan? (Summer '04 dates are still open)

I think it can defiantely be done! But before you make you're decision I think you should consider some things. First is money, you never realize how much it is going to cost until you are planning it! Second is stress level, this is obviously different with everyone, but I know someone who did it in 8 months but was a basketcase! She said if she had it to do over she would do it in a longer amount of time because it was none stop wedding. Also as someone mentioned you cant be as picky. I know when we went to look at photographers 3 we contacted in September were already booked solid for a late June wedding. Finally, is living situation. Fi and I wanted to have an 8 month engagment but we are also looking to buy a house and with that and the wedding I am so glad that we are having 11 months. Its a lot to do in a short time.
Good Luck!

It is definitly possible, just get moving on the palanning, so vendors don't book up.

you definitely can! we're doing ours too in about 8 months. Go decide on your hall and church (if that's what you're doing). Then the other stuff just falls into place. Start calling vendors to see who is available. The best part I realized about a short planning time was that I didn't have time to second guess myself.....
Good luck!

It's definitely possible. The question is -- do you really want to? It will probably be a bit more stressful than waiting a year. But then again, life is short and it's about the marriage not the wedding. The time will fly by so fast, will you even get to enjoy it? Does that even matter to you? You only get to be a bride for one day. You get to be a bride to be for as long as your engagement is!! Summer 2005 is really NOT that far away.
I've been engaged for almost a year now and I don't know where the time has gone!! I originally set my date for 4/30/05 then moved up the wedding by 7 months in October! I couldn't take the wait, it was unnecessary for us, IMO. BUT our engagement was really long. It would have been 2 years and 2 months by the wedding. With the new date it will still be on the long side at 1 year 8 mos. But when we first got engaged, I originally wanted a 1.5 yr engagement or less, but no less than one year.
I know I'm giving you both sides of the coin here.... that's so you can think about it and decide what's right for you! Good luck!

Heck Ya! I got engaged last August and will be getting married this coming May. I know it's 9 months but i was able to get all my vendors done this past November so it is def possible as long as you have the cash available to pay. Good luck!

You DEFINITEY can! We had a year and 3 month engagement and I wish it would have been shorter. Everyone is right - it is only ONE day - you don't need a year and a half to plan. However much time you have is how long it will take to plan. The stress won't be more or less, it will just be for a shorter amount of time! Having less of a choice on vendors will just make for easier decisions IMO. Two of my girlfriends have planned their weddings in 8 months or less and it was no more stressful than mine. And all of them turned out beautiful.

Re: Do you think I can pull a wedding together in 7 months?
Oh yes it's possible. I just found out my neighbor did it in 3 months. It wasn't at the Fox Hollow or Oheka but it was a nice place and the food was great and she said she wouldn't have done it different if she had more time to plan. If you have the money there, then why not?
I think if you go in knowing that most of the popular vendors might already be booked for 2004, then you should have no problems. But there are 100's of other vendors on Long Island that should be open for your date. Just know you'll be making alot of phone calls (defintely call places first to make sure they are booked) and also don't hem and haw a long time deciding on if you're going to book them because if you do they might book someone else before you decide!
Church wedding? Most Catholic churches require at least 6 months advance notice. And get pre-cana done and over with as soon as you can or you might forget!
Good luck!!!
