'trashy' to hold a Bridal Shower in someone's backyard?
My mom will be hosting my shower and I really dont want her to spend a lot of money to have it in a restaurant. Since it will be held in the summer time and we have a nicely set-up backyard...I would prefer for her to order catering and get a BBQ guy to come in and cook...
What do you think? Honest opinions! We're looking at 25-30 ladies...Thank you!

I don't think it's trashy, just make sure you have a plan if it rains!

Re: Do you think it
Of course not!!!! Bridal Showers are supposed to be 'intimate' gatherings with women you're close to. The home has such a cozy atmosphere and it's a lot more fun than some stuffy restaurant or catering hall.
I mean it would be trashy if Brittney shows up...but I think she's off getting knocked up again, so you're good!

I think it would be 'trashy' if someone was so nasty as to judge your shower like that!
I think it's a great idea- go for it!

Not at all!! My FSIL had her's in her aunt's backyard!!! I think it is a great thing to have a 'home' shower! It makes it so nice to be relaxed & not feel rushed!
My shower this past weekend, was in my mom's house...I didn't think it was 'trashy' at all!!! We happen to have TONS of comments already!!!

Thanks a bunch ladies! I dont think it is trashy either and in all honesty I would prefer that as opposed to a restaurant...I just heard it somewhere and was wondering about it.

No, not at all!! I have never been to a bridal shower that wasn't at someone's home. My cousins was really nice. They set up a tent and had it catered.

I dont think its trashy at all... I am going to tell them to have mine in my aunts house. I am already going away for a bacheleorette party and I dont want my sister and MOH to go broke for me!!

no way - I def. want my bridal shower at someones house - its more intimate. Everyone is more at ease - sit back and relax and enjoy the bridal shower!

Sylvia that is great!!!! I love 'backyard' showers....they are so much more fun than stuffy restaurants..I personally hate showers...they are so boring......
I want mine to be at my house rather than Gargullio's Restaurant in Bklyn (I already know where it is going to be)..I keep giving hints to Billy & my Mom to have it at my house...........
go for it!!!!!

Bingo! Thats my reasoning as well! My MOH is paying for my Bachelorette party and I would never allow her to contribute to the shower...and I dont want to put my mom through it either.
Anita-I've been to Gargiullos (on Court St right?)...great food but I agree it would be too 'stuffy'.
Thank you girls once again for confirming with my feelings.

Re: Do you think it
I think it is a great idea as long as you have a back-up for bad weather. If my mother had the space to hold my guest list i would prefer it to be in the house. One of the best showers I ever went to was in a house. There were finger sandwiches and it was very simple and comfortable.
So def. not trashy!!
