if I have my outer invite envelopes printed by Inkspun but write the inner ones myself? It saves me about $50 which I know isn't much but I'm pinching pennies at this point.

You could use the same font and print them on your computer.

Re: Do you think it's tacky...
Honestly, I never noticed things like that until I was a bride, and I think I will probably start to forget it now that I am married.
I had my invites done by someone on the computer, it was VERY reasonable and I got a TON of compliments on how gorgeous they were. FM me for info.

You can also use clear Avery labels with the same font and put them on the evelopes. It takes away some of the stress of printing directly on to the envelopes.

Re: Do you think it's tacky...
Definitely not tacky.
Nowhere else but places like Long Island is it even considered necessary to have your envelopes professionally done - never mind TWO envelopes professionally done.
I'm not even having an inner envelope. It seems like a big waste of tree to me. None of this stuff is really 'necessary,' and very few people really take a whole lot of notice of them, outside of people who are actually planning a wedding.

I printed all of mine... inner and outer.... on my own printer at home. Got a nice cursive font at www.searchfreefonts.com and did them myself! They came out awesome! Very proud of myself and they look wonderful if I do say so!!!

That's exactly what i'm going to do with my outer envelope and on the inner i am going to write it myself. 12 years of Catholic school- I get many compliments on my penmanship.

I did my own invitations. People said they were very nice. I saved hundreds of dollars.
Oh- Sorry! No- I don't think it's tacky at all. People throw that stuff away anyway. Does anyone ever hear how beautiful the envelope was? No- they talk about the bride!

i'm not even bothering with the inner envelopes. and honestly, i don't think there's been anything written on any inner envelopes i've ever received as an invited guest.

I just spent all of 4th of july printing the inner and outer envelopes on the computer. Once we figured it out, it was pretty easy.

Re: Do you think it's tacky...
well...i wouldn't have one done professionally and hand-write the other. that woud be noticable.
i actually hand wrote all of mine (inner and outer) and have received tons of compliments and no one realized i did them...i used a calligraphy pen, red the directions on how to hold it and just wrote very carefully...it fooled EVERYONE even my own mom!
PERSONALLY, i feel it's less personal (re: special) when i get invitations that are printed out on the computer....BUT that's just me...i love to see hand-written calligraphy.....again, that's MY OPINION.
i say either pay the extra $50 or don't use/print on (in any way) the inner envelopes.

THis is what I did - I used a silver calligraphy marker for the inside, and got alot of compliments.

I don't think it's tacky - and those that would notice and be offended - well - are snobs! JMO! Do what works for you - we printed ours through the computer using calligraphy.

Re: Do you think it's tacky...
I only got names printed on the inside envelopes if the person would be invited 'and guest'
For example if it was Mr and Mrs Smith on the outside I found it silly to do that again on the inside so I didnt print anything
If it said Ms. Smith on outside and they were invited with guest I got
