Do you think it's too late?

Do you think it's too late?

To plan for June 2010?

Will a lot of vendors be booked? I'm a little nervous because at present FH is unemployed (victim of the many layoffs), and so we can't really come up a lot of deposits right now. Do you think we should think of a later date?

His parents have offered money for our wedding, maybe we can ask for some of it now to make deposits? I'm just not sure what to do!

UPDATE on P2

BOOK NOW if you want a June 2010 wedding. You may be able to get dates later on in 2009 for June 2010, but if you have your heart set on a date, DO IT NOW, especially if you have a family member willing to help you financially with it.

its def not too late to plan for a 2010 wedding. u may have to shop around a little more. esp if u are not flexible as to what u want. some vendors may already be booked. if u are flexible i shouldnt see a problem.

as far as the money issue thats up to u.

i suggest u start now.... do you know where you want to book? also if family will help with payments you need to take advange of that if you want a june 2010 wedding... your payments start usually like 2 mnths after the deposite...

my wedding is late June 2010 and so far the only vendor that was booked was Duet that was like 3 weeks ago... but i also have everything else booked...

good luck

There are a lot of vendors that are 'LIW approved', and I know us girls like to use them...but there are TONS and TONS of great florists, photographers, bands/DJs, etc. on Long Island.

I wouldn't worry!! I'm sure you can plan your dream wedding with no problem!!

FH doesn't want to really start looking until he gets a job, I understand that but I don't really want to wait forever (wedding was already postponed once). I'm also worried that if we make all of our deposits and FH doesn't get another job soon, we'll be left unable to make our payments. I really don't make enough money for this.

I already know what hall, church, photographer, and florist I want. I don't know if they are booked for that date. The hall and photographer still have part of my deposits from last time, so that's at least a start.

There was a recent post on the Brides Helping Brides post about an available date in May at Swan Club (and the photographer, too) because the wedding was called off. If you're flexible with your date, you may be able to find awesome deals on the reception hall.

i would prob wait to make sure that you two are stable in case the worse happens.... thats just my opinion though

if you have your heart set on june 2010 its def not too late but you should def start booking major vendors

If it is a money issue than you may want to look outside of the June months, because June tends to be more expensive. Unless you look at Thursday or Sundays.

It's feasible, but you'll have to be flexible. I'm a June 2010 bride but I started booking in January, so many of my vendors were still free.

However, a great analogy I got from Joe at Camelot Limos was this:

A Saturday night in June is the SL 550 of Mercedes

So if you don't have the hall booked just yet, you may want to look towards Fridays or Sundays. They're likely to be a bit cheaper, and you may get more vendors available.

I was layed off in october ... that is why we decided to have our wedding in the off season.

My hall is almost $100 less per head because we are having it in feb ...

we are also borrowing $$ from FH's parents for the deposits .... depending on your comfort level, just take the $$ early ... just make sure you do not overspend counting on him getting a job ... its rough out there!!

good luck, happy planning

it could be, but if you can find a place to have it you should be able to find vendors. Do it now and see what you can get

OHmigod, you should be booking now for sure! Places book up so fast, and you're totally better off booking now to avoid disappointment. I am a June bride, so if you need help, let me know :)

i would start looking for RH's right away. If price is a factor, look at day weddings, sundays, or thursday nights.. i am getting married in june but the only way i am affording it is because im having it on a saturday afternoon

Is June super expensive? Our original date was December.

yes because it is part of 'peak' wedding season

Has anyone done cost comparisons for different times of the year? Can you share some info?
