Do you think my guests will be annoyed that they don't get a favor?
We are going to have a sign or something, maybe a scroll given to each person that says in lieu of favors, we have made a donation (we haven't decided on the charity yet) in their names.
Besides, as the guests leave, FLowerfield gives each guest a small gift box with chocolate truffels inside.
But my mother says this is wrong, and they're going to want a favor from me.

No, they won't. I worked so hard on my favors, and so many were left over because people forgot to take them. Don't sweat it!! The donation is wonderful and I wish I had done it!

I went to a wedding without favors, no one cares. Especially if the wedding is more on the elaborate side.

I think making a donation is better then recieving a favor. Favors usually wind up left on the table or in the garbage.

Hi kathy,
I have been to weddings where they have done the same thing and I find it very classy as well. I think it is such a great idea. Most people wont even know what to do with their favors and putting the money towards a good cause definitely is more worth it in my opinion.
Besides the guests are still getting party favors from flowerfields.

I think the donation is a GREAT idea. So many times the favors go to waste, and yours would go to a great cause.

Nope!! I'm doing a DONATION and chocolates. I think it is much more generous than an actual object (that most people don't use anyway)

My girlfriend did not do favors and nobody said anything. I didn't even notice.

I like donations better than favors too. It shows a lot of class and generosity.

I am doing the same thing! I honestly dont' think people go to weddings expecting a favor. Stick to your gut - don't fall victim for the 'you HAVE to do a favor' schtick!

I want to do a donation as well....I have never once used a favor from a wedding that I have gone to....NEVER!

I went to a cousin's wedding back in January and it wasn't until 2 days later when I realized that they did not give out favors. Obviously I did not miss them and I think most of your guests will not miss them. If Flowerfield's is giving out something, then you don't need to give out something. I like your idea of the donation.

I agree with the others...I think it's a great idea (maybe I'm biased since we're doing a donation in lieu of favors also!). So many favors wind up in the back of a closet or collecting dust behind some picture frame. A donation is such a thoughtful & generous gesture.

I agree, I plan on making a donation to the National Leukmia Society, my mom passed away from this. Besides, favors usually win up un the trash whether it be now or 10 years later. This way I feel lik we give somthing to people who really need it!!
