Do you think ovulation kits are worth it?

Do you think ovulation kits are worth it?

I can usually tell when I am going to ovulate but my friend who is a nurse told me it is worth it when timing TTC. What do you girls think? I mean if I am ovulating and start to feel the side pain I usually get when I ovulate wouldn't that mean to get, um , say busy? ( BD) Or should I try the kit? Maybe it is more accurate and when I feel the pain the window of opportinuity has passed to conceive. Sorry to sound so stupid......................

I think they are very worth it. If for no other reason than to reassure me that I am timing things perfectly.

By ovulation kit, do you mean the ones that are 13-20.00 or the ones that are 100-200?

If we are talking about 13-20 then to me it is worth it. If the other one, then, JMO, no.

I personally think they are a waste of money. I tested everyday, never got a surge line... I didnt pay any attention because my own calculations were telling me that I should be ovulating. We BD anyway and I am pregnant. If I had paid attention to the ovulation kit, I may not have gotten pregnant as quickly.

They were definitely worth it for me.....I got preggo the first month using them.

I think they are worth it becuase I was testing with them and got my surge 5 days before the fertility calendar online said I was due for it! Althought I'm not PG yet, it tells me when the right time to start trying is.

I'm using a saliva-based ovulation kit called Ovulite that's prety easy to use and has an unlimited number of tests.

Basically you place a drop of saliva on the lens every morning and you see patterns of 'ferning' that tell you when you are ovulating.

It's pretty easy to read and use and for $29 I thought it was a better deal than monthly OPKs that you have to keep buying each month.

I'm using a combo of CM tracking, the Ovulite and BBT to get there.

Good luck. Baby dust!!

The first time I used them....I got preggo right away. (unfortunately, i had an ectopic) Since then, I haven't got prego yet...but, maybe it is other fertility issues.

It is definetly worth the investment especially since you haven't used it yet. YOu can also save your receipts for pretax dollars for reimbursement.

I don't think they are worth it if you are willing to BD every other day instead. Personally, I think that is the much more fun approach.

I have to agree - it was just that little assurance that made it worth it to me.

I tried using one but even though it told me when I was ovulating, I didn't have any success conceiving. So for me, I would say it wasn't worth it. I would say the only good thing is that it told me that I was in fact ovulating.

After two years, this, unfortunately, is no longer realistic.
