FH and I were discussing this the other day. He swears he will be. I say no, because of everything going on today for ex... war...our economy. What do you all think?

I think he is a very good president and I hope he gets re-elected.
Im with you.
But Since I work in NY it's so cool to hate him and the media is so fast to judge him.
Personally though, I wish at the very least for a better opposing character than Kerry. God help me but I don't want that man as president at ALL!
I also agree

Then, isn't it funny that right when the Dems pick Kerry and everyone is excited and Bush starts getting crticism about the war, we 'find' Hussein and the popularity shifts back to Bush again. I'm sure he knew where he was all along.
What everyone wants is for this war to be over, as the deaths mount. But, don't be surprised if the war ends in October (how convenient) and right around Election Day, we 'find' Bin Laden.
It's all a game friends, it's all a game -- IMO of course
I agree with you. But then i wouldn't vote for a guy who threw his medals at the U.S. Capitol. My family fought in most of the wars our country has been involved in, and i find it a disgrace that a man could protest a government that gave everyone that lives here their freedom. IMO

There is increasing evidence that he knew about 9/11. Which means he consciously let 3,000 people die.
You really think Bush knew 19 Arabs were going to hijack planes and kill 3,000 people?

Insanity isnt it?
I still have the CNN Story where the Germans were polled and the majority believe not only did Bush know but he actually ordered it himself.
I find it AMAZING that people are willing to be sold on this idea!!
I personally do not believe he knew without a shadow of a doubt and to the last detail exactly what and when 9/11 would happen. That is just NOT possible. (to me) Do I believe someone said 'it could' to him, sure.. but I doubt it would have mattered. Nothing could have prevented this from happening. (JMO) and if we did try to stop it it would be been considered hearsay and paranoid.
No one (NO ONE AT ALL) could have guess what they were going to do or even imagine just a monsterous thing COULD happen except for the monsters who orchestrated it. The reason it worked is because we (america) would not/could not grasp the idea that they could/would do this to us.

OK, I have heard others say this--but I really don't understand it. Kerry served for our country and was awarded 4 Purple Hearts...And Bush did not show up to complete his duty in the National Guard? Bush was accepted into the Texas Air National Guard just two weeks before he was to lose his student deferment and face selection in the draft. When he was chosen, there were only two slots remaining in the state and a long waiting list of much more qualified applicants for those slots. In fact there was a 100,000 long waiting list to get into the Guard nationally and some 150 pilot applicants, who often were forced to wait 18 months before being considered for flight school, on the list in Texas. Bush had absolutely no prior experience and no ROTC courses in college. Bush scored the absolute minimum acceptable score on the qualifying test. Most on the waiting list scored much higher. Despite his lack of qualifications, Bush got not only one of those last two slots, but also a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. Bush requested a transfer to the 9921st Air Reserve Squadron at Maxwell Air Force Base. At the time, Bush flew F-102’s (an obsolete fighter that guaranteed that its pilots would never be sent to Vietnam). There are no records of Bush ever showing up for drills. How we can defend someone who did all in his (and his father's) power to AVOID going to Vietnam, and attack someone who was there fighting and earning 4 Purple Hearts is beyond me. A long tangent, but I am a die-hard Dem...

i'm not saying he knew the exact extent of the plot and how many people it would effect, but he had to know it would be big
Look at FDR, he knew about Pearl Harbor but let it happen to get us into WWII -- IMO

Oh, I don't think he ordered it to happen, but I think he knew something big was going to happen. Because he didn;t know the extent of what was planned, he couldn't prepare accordingly. But, I'm sure in the back of his mind, when 9/11 did happen, as upset as he might have been for lives lost,he was thinking, 'here's a great opportunity to look like a hero and gain more power at the same time'
Again -- just my opinion

Well he did send a warning.. too late.
But that's an interesting point of view you have. Seems a bit more hindsight is 20/20 to me. I should pass on to you an article I read about what would have happened if Bush HAD preempted (sp) 9/11
Still, no president ALIVE wouldn't have seen this as a big political situtation. It was sink or swim. He HAD to react for the American people and I'm glad he did. He could have sat back and said 'wait' and then we'd all be in a different place. Frankly, being an injuried survivor maybe im just a BIT skewed .. but Im glad he acted as he did. I also don't think he sat around and said 'WHOOHOO, Power PLAY' 3000 americans died. No president wants that, no matter how many votes it gets. History will also show HE was president when China took our soldiers captive and 3000 citizens died.
JMO
I'll see if I can find that article for you. You have a very different view. I find it hard to wrap my mind around, but hey that's the American way, each to their own.

Thanks. I have the article at home.. in newspaper form. I know I read at the end it was a reprint from a story via the web. I'll check to see if it has the URL when I get home, otherwise I'll just scan the hard copy version on Monday at work.

I think he will get re-elected. I don't think Kerry is a strong enough canidate. And although many people complain about Bush I'm not so sure a lot of those people will actually vote for Kerry instead. I think many people wont vote and I think Nader will get some votes also.
Everyone that I know that is saying they are voting for Kerry say they are voting for him because he's not Bush. I just don't think that's a strong canidate.

Re: Do you think Pres. Bush will be re-elected?
I agree that nothing could've prevented 9/11, and I don't think Bush knew about it. In fact, I think that's the problem--apparently he SHOULD have known about it, but he was too busy trying to focus his administration on Iraq to pay attention to the intelligence about bin Laden.
And I'm also glad he responded as he did after 9/11. The war in Afganistan was entirely appropriate. The war in Iraq? Entirely inappropriate and baseless. Never for a second did I believe there were WMDs there, and it astonished me that most of my friends did believe that. The man's excuse for attacking a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 was that 'Saddam tried to kill my dad.'
Now I've always been an Independent. And I've also almost always leaned toward the Republican side of things. I really liked the first President Bush. But this one scares the crap out of me--I think if he gets re-elected he just may start WW3.
That said, I actually think he's going to win by a landslide.

Re: Do you think Pres. Bush will be re-elected?
JMHO:
This is a very interesting and contraversial topic. Living in Europe, I have seen the world in a new way. I have realized just how little the rest of the world thinks of Americans and our President (and believe me they have no problem telling you). It upsets me because I want to scream maybe if your country was hit like ours, you may feel differently. I find it upsetting that Spain basically gave in to the terrorists and is removing their troops from Iraq. At this point, we went in whether it was right or wrong, now we have to help this country get back on their feet. We can't just pull out after we destroyed the place.
I agree with a lot of other posters, I don't think Kerry is a strong enough candidate and I personally wouldn't want him as President. I also agree that Bush handled the 9/11 situation well and that he didn't know that 3,000 Americans were going to die that day. I am sure he knew that Bin Laden was planning something, but Clinton probably knew that as well, it is pretty obvious that the terrorists wanted to hit on American soil at some point.
