Do you think that you can have feelings for two people at the same time?

I watched this french movie where this woman loved two different guys even though she was married.

What's your opinion?

Hmmm Im not sure. I only think it is maybe possibly cause you can be in love with them for just different reasons and different qualities that they posess.

yeah i can see how that happens... but in real life i believe that true love is unconditional and the whole point of true love is loving some one for their good ppoints AND bad points..not just saying: let me take what i love about him...and then what i love about him..and just fall for many diff men..

but what does maturity hafta do with how u feel about someone? feelings u cant control..but what u do with them is urs..is that what u mean?

I completly think its possible. Not acting on it is the thing we learn to do, but yes, why wouldnt it be possible to love one person and then NO-ONE else. It would depend on the situation, having the time and ability to fall in love with two people would be hard but it could certaintly happen.

YEah I think she means a mature adult learns that its not the 'right' thing to love two people in that sense, so you dont act on your feelings for one person if your in a committed relationship with another.

imo...a mature person knows that you can't run back and forth between two people..you make a decision and stick with it know that who you ultimately pick is the person who you will be in love with from then on...

I think true love, if that's what you are talking about can only be between two people at the same time. I think relationships take work and commitment and I don;t think you can give your 'whole heart' to more than one person.
Can you have 'lust' and 'luuuuvvvvvv' feelings for someone else? Probably but REAL LOVE and a REAL RELATIONSHIP, I don;t think so at all ...
And I do think it has to do with maturity and knowing what it takes to make a real relationship work.

yes, that was what i meant. as an example...the oscars were the other night and they were showing clips and it was natalie portmans clip for closer and she said to clive owen that there is a moment when you can (and i'm not getting this word for word, so it may lose something in translation) but there is this moment when you can almost decide if the feelings can go further. does that make sense?

I am still thiking about this topic....

And i feel that if you are 'married' already..no you cannot be in love with 2 people....
If you are married and fell in love with someone else..then i think that you had to have lost some love for your husband already! And hence not truly 'in love' with him. Not the way you should be anyway...

I think it really depends on the situation...

AND...it could also be the case that, if you are married, that you aren't really 'in love' with the other person but yet 'in lust'

yes, I agreee with this & your 'in lust' comment below.

I have had feeligns fro 2 peopel at teh ame tiem before, but neither were the feeligns Ihave for DH now. I feellike right now, I am so intertwined with him, that it would b e difficult for soemone to really even get my attention beyond perhaps momentarily thinking he was soemwhat attractive, in a removed, I am lookignat an object of beauty kind of way.

So, I couldn't have the same feeling for DH as someone else. Either I would just lust after someone or something would be missing with DH that I would be trying to compensate for somewhere else, even if I didn't entirely realize that.
