Do you think this is too much time...

in between the church & reception??

My Church is at 2:00 and the CT hour starts at 7:30. We are going to the OWG to take pictures then to the hall for some more pictures.

Should I move the CT hour to 7?? Is 5 1/2 hours to long in between for people?

My fh and I are doing our pictures before the ceremony. I know its not the tradition but we want to avoid the cruch for time.

Are you having a full mass? That could take up to an hour. Don't forget about travel ttime and traffic. Since its only a half hour I would say keep the 7:30 so you don't feel rushed.

Yes that does seem a bit too long, it might keep people from attending the ceremony

It all depends on how long the actual ceremony will be. But since you did mention that it's only a 1/2 hour travel time I say move it up to 7.

Why don't you make a timeline and see.

I'm having a full mass then going to the OWG gardens at 4 until 5:30 to take pictures! It's about a 30 min to my hall from the OWG giving us an hour to take pictures at the hall with the BP and family.

Where do i get the timeline from??

I would say for you and the wedding party it's a good amount of time. It's nice to not have to rush through your picture session at the gardens...but it may be a long time for your guests to wait around. Some people may choose to not go to your ceremony, but only attend the party.

I would leave it as such if you're worried about being pressed for time. Our church was 3pm and CH was at 7pm. I know your stretch of time is longer but I wouldn't make it shorter if you're too worried about time for pictures.

I went to a wedding that was at 1:30 and the CH was at 7pm... your guests will alter their schedule to yours.

I wouldn't change it

7 would be much better, but when u think of it its only 1/2 hour less.

Personally I think that It WAY TOO LONG. I would be annoyed if I went to a wedding and had to wait so long in between. I think anything more than a 2 hour wait is rude.

Everybody is from the area, and in past weddings everyone comes to the Church then goes home and gets ready for the reception.

There are 2 people coming from out of town, and my parents are having everyone back here after the ceremony.

Well if that is the tradition in your family, then thats different, but personally, I would not want that much time.

I think it's a little bit of a long lag, but the 1/2 hour isn't going to make much of a difference.
Some poeple might opt not to come to the church.
Do you have any close relative who wouldn't mind hosting some guests at thier house in the meantime-I've been to weddings like that a few times....
where you
1. go to the church
2. go to someone house and have a few drinks, maybe something to munch on
3. go to the CH.
If there aren't too many out of town people, then it's probably not a big deal.
The only thing-when you have a big gap like this, a lot of people will come to the church dressed down (b/c they don't want to be all dressed up for that many hours if they aren't being photographed), and they will bring thier kids with them (b/c it's hard to get a babysitter for that many hours).
I get annoyed when little kids run all over the pews and talk during a wedding ceremony-so it's just something to consider if you know your guests have small children.

ETA-sorry I didn't see that your parents were already having people back....whoops.
