Do you think this is too much time...

Original post by CKJ906

in between the church & reception??

My Church is at 2:00 and the CT hour starts at 7:30. We are going to the OWG to take pictures then to the hall for some more pictures.

Should I move the CT hour to 7?? Is 5 1/2 hours to long in between for people?

Thanks for your input girls, I most likely am going to change it back to 7! I should have enough time to go to the gardens and get out to the hall

I think it's a little bit of a long lag, but the 1/2 hour isn't going to make much of a difference.
Some poeple might opt not to come to the church.
Do you have any close relative who wouldn't mind hosting some guests at thier house in the meantime-I've been to weddings like that a few times....
where you
1. go to the church
2. go to someone house and have a few drinks, maybe something to munch on
3. go to the CH.
If there aren't too many out of town people, then it's probably not a big deal.
The only thing-when you have a big gap like this, a lot of people will come to the church dressed down (b/c they don't want to be all dressed up for that many hours if they aren't being photographed), and they will bring thier kids with them (b/c it's hard to get a babysitter for that many hours).
I'm get annoyed when little kids run all over the pews and talk during a wedding ceremony-so it's just something to consider if you know your guests have small children.

ETA-sorry I didn't see that your parents were already having people back....whoops.

Hey, thanks for the info!
I know people aren't going to come to the church dressed whether the ceremony is a 2 or 230. I've been to past weddings w/ these guests and they go home after and get ready for the reception. Its really not a big concern to me if they wear black pants or if they wear their gown I dont mind and my family doesn't have small kids so i'm not worried about that, but I can see your point

I think because the church is at 2pm to 3pm. Then people talk for a while after, then mosey to their cars. Drive to the hall... and talk some more its fine.

You need to make the timing right for you to get all your pictures finished. That is more important IMO.

When I started planning I was worried too about what the guests would do in the mean time but you cant worry about everything.

The guests are adults and can amuse themselves for a while. They can go to the hotel if they have a room, or take their time getting to the hall. Traffic is always annoying so there is that to take into account.

I am rambling now but ultimately you have to make enough time for your travel time and pictures and let your adult guests do what they want to do.
