Do you think you could have planned your wedding in 6 months?
I remember when FH and I got engaged, I wanted to get married right away and he wanted to wait a year and a half. I was so upset but agreed. Well, now that we are right around the corner, I am thinking to myself, how the hell did I think I could have done all this planning in six months. Do you think you could have done it all in 6 months??

I did it in 6 months & 3 weeks
ETA: it was extremely difficult, and had I been given more time I may have made some very different and probably better choices. I would have shopped around a bit more & gotten better prices, but in the end, even though I overpaid for quite a few items, I am happy that I am having the weddign of my dreams, and I am very happy that I did not have to wait years to do it. I have alot of respect for those who can take a few years to plan, but with my situation, it just worked better to do things quickly.

Totally. Although (around the tri-state area at least) you need to be flexible about vendors. Like don't get your heart set on one because if they are popular they might be booked.

I COULD have done it in 6 months. BUT.. I am so happy that I am waiting. I feel like I can put a lot more into now that I'm waiting.. I have come up with so many ideas, and have seen so many different things, I've been engaged for 6 months and I've only just begun!!! I have a lot more ahead of me.. I'm happy that we waited, because at first, I was upset also. I didn't want to wait a year and half.. but now.. I'm happy we are..

We wanted to get married within 8 months but unfortunatly between the hall & church we couldnt get that.
However I really wish we were doing it sooner! The only part that I think has benefited from an 11 month engagment is we have more time to buy a house! I am not sure we could have done that in 6-8 months!

I think it is possible IF you choose the right time of year and you are not super picky about vendors. The problem is not having enough time to do everything, it is having available vendors.

I simply could not imagine waiting longer than I am already ... we just got engaged a few weeks ago, and are planning a July '04 wedding (Yikes!)
Sometimes I feel overwhelemed when I read some other posts, and see how organized the rest of you are.. I realize that I have to move FAST and get things done a lot quicker than everyone else .. but so far, things are really falling into place (the church is set and the hall is nearly done too!)
IMO, I am just so happy to be marrying my 'soulmate' that waiting any longer would just be too tough

JAIME-
My sister planned hers in 4 months!!! After experiencing it with her, anything is possible! edited to add I would not be able to do it. It took me a full year and that was fine for me..

I voted no because I think it depends on the type of wedding you are planning. If it's a smaller wedding it would be easier but it definitely can be done in 6 months. However, I think that to have it done right (meaning fussing over all the little details) and enjoy it, it takes longer.

I wanted to do it in about 8 months and still feel I could have done it. He wanted to wait and buy a house first. If it were up to me we would have gotten married and worried about the house later.

I think if you have more time, you take more time. You don't have the luxury of agonizing about whether the vellum on the RD invites matches the BM's dresses, and if anyone will notice! A friend of mine planned her wedding in about 6 months. She made decsions because she had to. I'm a little jealous! Maybe I could've planned it, but I couldn't have paid for it.

My FBIL and his wife planned their wedding in 3 months. And she said that in the Orthodox Jewish community they're part of, that was a long time! People get married in 6 weeks!
There's a whole machine that does this stuff in Orthodox Jewish circles - there are tons on weddings, the bride's parents have been planning on it for years, probably already have the vendors picked out - it's really crazy.

We could have planned it, sure. But we would not have been able to pay for it.
We have been together for 4 1/2 years and by the time we get married we will be together for over 5 years.
We knew that we would get married, but we wanted to buy a house first. Financially, we couldn't do both, so we made the decision that the house was our first priority, then a wedding.

I am sure if I tried I could do it in six months, but it would not be worth all the stress to do it.

Re: Do you think you could have planned your wedding in 6 months?
I got engaged 2002 Christmas time-going into 2003.
I wanted to get married in 2005, but fh wanted 2004. I thought a wedding needs time to prepare, but in acutallity, it all depends on the hall and the church. If the days are available. ?? When, I went looking at beatiful halls, they were all ready booked for 2005 .
So, I was fortunate to get a 2004 date in one of the most beautiful halls.
