Have you ever heard this? My co-worker just came in my office ranting about how Demi Moore is too old for such long hair...

For me, it's more an individual person issue than an age issue.
I thought Demi looked better with shorter hair - the longer hair draws her face down too much - IMO. I also think Halle Berry looks way better with short hair, than the long locks she's sporting these days.

It depends on the individual, their sense of style and how young they feel and act. Demi Moore has to be one of the best looking 40 yo's around. She looks great with long hair.

I think VERY FEW women over 40 look good with long hair. Its just a fact of life that hair does not get healther as you age - so when its long, its more dry and brittle.
Also - very thin women tend to look better with shorter hair since their face tends to be a bit drawn and the long hair only accentuates that.
Of course there are always exceptions to these rules....but i do not plan on having long hair for very much longer.

Yeah I think I will get to a point where I am to old for long hair. I have had long hair pretty much all my life.

I think it's the individual's personality, and more importantly how healthy her hair is. If it's stringy and thin, and doesn't look good, it can make a woman look even older than she is.

I agree, it's tough to keep your hair looking healthy when you're older. Not that it's inappropriate if you are able to keep it nice, but I don't think I'll fall into that category! However, I always think it's cute to see old women with long braids down their back... like pictures of Native American women who have hair like that. Personally, mine will probably get chopped soon!

I think so...I do not plan on keeping my hair as long as it is. I just think woman at a certain age look so much better and even younger when they cut their long hair short. It adds new life!

Depends on the individual.
I do know for me tho' when I'm all old, I don't want to be messing around with a whole bunch of hair. I just want it short and easy

I have tried the short hair thing on me and it just doesn't look right... I think at some point, yes, I will cut my hair to shoulder length and leave it....but not for a while....
I love my long hair and never feel myself when I try to go short. JMO, but I guess to answer the question....Yes, I think at some point you can be too old for long hair....
sidenote: I actually like Demi with her long locks!

NO...I don't think any women is every too old for long hair. I love long hair, I don't see me ever with short hair even if I was 90.

I have to say - I always get scared of woman who cut all ther hair off immedatly after marriage or having children. It seems so old fashioned and something my Grandmother would insist on. I am not saying this to offend anyone - I know short hair is easier (supposedly) but I think that it does not suit that many people and it should not be done because of a certian age or standing in society.
My mom is over 50 and has her hair a little past the shoulders I would kill for now - I guess it just matters.

It depends on the style and your hair - cause in my case, short hair isn't easier to maintain than if I was able to throw it up in a ponytail. It takes me 20 minutes to dry my hair (if I actually care what it looks like - otherwise it's about 10 and damp).

I think when you are sixty or seventy years old, you should have a short hairstyle. I don't think 40 is too old for long hair. I know a woman who is in her forties and looks fantastic with her long hair.

My hair is about 3/4 inches from my butt! I cringe when I think about cutting it. I have panick attacks when I actually get up the nerve to get it cut. I don't know if I will ever be able to cut it!

I love having long hair!! I get all depressed when it is time for a cut and it is usually VERY necessary!
