Do you think you ever get too old for long hair?

Original post by Kim921

Have you ever heard this? My co-worker just came in my office ranting about how Demi Moore is too old for such long hair...

what do you think?

I do think you can be too old for long hair, but I certainly don't think Demi has reached that age yet. She looks fantastic and if I look as good as her when I am 40 I will be the happiest 40-year-old on earth!

Funny question!
But I have thought about it. I have pretty long hair, like 4-5 inches above my waist. It's healthy (for now!), but when people ask me if I'm ever going to cut it, i say, eventually. I am keeping it as long as i can because I think that by 40, it'll look ridiculous.

IMO, you can get too old for really long hair. Interestingly enough, I do think Demi looks good, but she's beautiful even with her GI Jane buzz! I am not Demi!!! I am also not a Hollywood star. I wouldn't wear half the stuff they do. Hollywood is a different breed with different rules.

My 80 year old Auntie has beautiful silvery hair down to the top of the waist.
She often wears it in a bun. She looks gorgeous.
When she wears it down usually in the house, she looks like an angel. We would all be horrified it she cut it.

So I say I would go short b/c I'm LAZY, not b/c of the 'look'
As I said before, all depends on the person, no set rule applies here IMO.

I tend to agree with Sonicstef, I feel that I will soon have to cut mine down to shoulder length, currently it is up to my bra strap on my back. Over 40....all I can say is DH's ex is over 40 and has it like down to her waist and it looks like hell...and she does hair! I really am surprised at her because from the boobs down it looks really ratty, and she is very attractive, but this definitely detracts from it!. I think on certain women its an 'I want to look young' maneuver.Very few women can carry this look off and those few are lucky. I think just about all ages can carry off shoulder length hair effortlessly. JMO.

My hair is way past my butt and I have no plans to cut it off anytime soon.
My hair is extremely thick and when it's shorter, it gets very full and bushy. I also find having long hair is less maintenance for me.
I've seen plenty of older women with very long hair. One woman I know of is a university professor at Stony Brook and one of the most respected archaeologists in the world (my sister is also an archaeologist). She has hair past her butt and I've always equated her look with a type of intellect.
Of course, I may change my mind down the road but I doubt it.
To each their own!

definitely depends...

but my mom has medium and my 2 MILs have long hair and they all look great...

although when I was about 21 or 22....a coworker told me not to cut my long hair - but to enjoy it while I could...

i usually prefer shorter (shoulder length or shorter) on older women. i'll cut mine eventually, but for now i love my long hair.
