i didn't either. she had her own business and charged me more than i thought it should be..she added 90 to the price in the end because she said there was more beading than she thought...needless to say, i paid what she asked and left.
I think a big rule of thumb is if someone has their own business a tip isn't necessary.

I'll probably give her a tip when I pick up my dress on Friday...I was really happy with my alterations.

Re: Do you tip the seamstress?
My seamstress was excellent. Only one fitting. A little Italian lady who works for Kleinfeld's for over 20 years and does it at of her Brooklyn home as well. She was so sweet and only charged me $200. So, I gave her a little extra.
