My mother insist that the bridal shower be a surprise but I reallyyyyyy dont want to look like a mess the day of.... I love to be in sweats/ jeans most of my weekends... ( well ALL)..
what is a good compromise? I dont want to plan it .. I just want a little say and want to know the date... IM SUCH A TYPE 'A'

i want to be totally suprised! When we threw one for my friend a few years ago, she came in sweats (had NO idea) but her sisters brought her makeup and clothes to change in so she can be dolled up. Maybe just tell your mom if she really wants it to be a surprise to just have stuff ready for you in case you're in sweats?

i would say, trust your mom. let it be her surprise to you, she obviously wants it to be for you and its such a small thing to ask. i'm sure they will make some excuse up to get you all dressed up so you don't arrive to your bridal shower in sweats. your going to have so much fun anyway that you going to love your shower no matter what

I am the same way!
I'm going to give my mom an outfit to bring so they can feel like I'm surprised when I walk in looking a mess. I'll know it's coming, though. I don't come from a line of secret-keepers =)

Hmm this is tricky..I want to be surprised im alil traditional even tho its so hard to sirprise nower days..this is what they now do ans what they will say it's someones party or luncheon and when u get there they have a dress and heels for u to change into.so to make her happy tell her she can surprise u as long as u have a change of outfit and heels..

I personally want to be totally surprised. I did request that it be at my mom's house though so I actually left my shower dress and shoes there so when I am surprised I can change LOL.
But as far as date, I don't want to know a thing. I've even been an extremely good girl and have not registry stalked once because I don't want to know if gifts have been purchased because then I'll think the shower is coming up.
I think though that if you want to at least know the date, I think that's a good compromise.

Well my sister gave me three weekend dates to take off from work, one of which I know is my bachelorette weekend in Vegas so I narrowed it down to two days so I plan on making sure I look great for both days.
Whoever is doing your shower let them know what you really want there and let them take care of it. at least you gave them your opinions and I am sure they will follow through with them.

Its really not possible for me to be surprised since i live oos, but my mom and sister just told me the date so I can come up for it. Thats all I know, so the rest will be a surprise!!

I'm gonna be surprised!! I love surprises and even if I didn't my mom would insist on it being a surprise lol. I'm going to go buy a new dress and shoes and give it to my mom to bring to the shower (whenever it is! lol). I'm also throwing in some make up and one of my hair irons just in case!!

For my sisters shower I had her give me a nice outfit. shoe, etc and I brought it with me to the shower. After the surprise she went to the bathroom and changed.

I'm fairly Type A in the sense where I insisted on planning it, theme, to invites to making my own towel cake, and hot air balloon wishing well (hamper w/ balloons, DIY) and I was reminded that she has one daughter & I have to let her just do it,. She doesn't even want the girls to help...

To avoid 'not looking good' my MOH wants to have my dress with her and when i get there she'll have the dress waiting for me..
