They are very different people. They get along fine, but wouldn't get together, if that makes any sense

my mom & FMIL love each other. They dont really know my FFIL or FStepMIL. As a matter of fact I dont think my FFIL ever met my parent

I don't have a FMIL. My FI's mom passed away years ago. I feel like I am missing out on something because I don't have one--even to gripe and moan about!

my fmil and my mother get along very well- they go out even without us...2 weeks ago they met up in ct and went to mohegan sun together just them...it used to weird me out for some reason, but now i think it is kind of nice...
ffil is very quiet and my father is not quiet at all to say the least! i think my father kind of intimidated ffil- (keep in mind ffil's english is not completely fluent, he understands and speaks english too- but just not fluently and my dad has a queens/bklyn accent) they get along, but i wouldnt say they know eachother like the moms do
we have many holidays together which is nice too!

My mom and FMIL are from different planets. They are cordial but definitely polar opposites and that's a compliment to my mom. FFIL is remarried and lives in Greece so he's not a problem. I do have FIL-grandparents they are okay I guess.

Haha, this is very similar to my situation.
FIL's are from the midwest, and I have the typical NY Italian family (loud, fun, and crazy). I think we're just too much for them to handle.
My mom can't stand my FIL's. She thinks they are stiff, cold, selfish people, which is pretty much true.

Luckily, they get along very well. We've already had a lot of family parties where they invited one and other. It makes life sooooooooo much easier!

I'm actually not sure if they get along or not. They've really only met once (FH's parents do not live in the country), but with that encounter they seemed to get along just fine.
We'll have another go at the meeting this summer when we have the e-party.

royally. They email each other more than they do us! They met at the engagement party, and were hugging and crying and saying 'We love you guys!' by the end. I was shocked.
I guess putting two very similar big Italian families in a room makes for one big insane (happy) Italian family.
