Limos - Didn't
Photographer - Did

this is how it works, not all services are required to collect sales tax. usually if goods are changing hands (ie: flowers) sales tax is applied. but that's not always the case. it depends on the type of vendor. ps i'm not a nerd i work for an accountant

ETA - regardless if you pay cash or not.. thats how i know.. i offered to pay cash but they said tax was already included in the overall price

my florist estimated tax because that will change depending on my final order.

DJ there is not tax.

if you pay cash you pay cash - these vendors have to pay sales tax regardless. if they don't pay their taxes, well that's a whole different topic lol

right...but for the vendors that are required to pay taxes, they should quote you with the tax INCLUDED. IDK how it works during an audit, but I do know that sometimes they look at bills, receipts, etc...It's just not worth the chance. The original reason for this post was to see if vendors INCLUDE tax in their quotes. Some do...RH will always tell you it's $xxx per plate, ++. That is for service and tax. They don't quote it for you because they don't know how many people will show up to your wedding. You work that out at a later date. Photog/Video/DJ should include tax on their quotes.

ETA: this doesn't mean if you pay CASH you aren't paying tax. If it's 200 without tax, and 222 with tax...and you pay the 222 in cash...doesn't matter. You paid your taxes. If they say...
222 with tax, 200 if you pay us cash...something is up.

bottom line: YOUR PRICE SHOULD BE THE SAME IF YOU PAY CASH, CHECK, OR CC.

This is very true.. If someone, including vendors in the flea market, offer to not charge tax if you pay cash its cause they are most likely not going to report the income.

My videographer did that.

Haha none of mine offered yet.. But how amazing would it be if they offered.. and then next question, 'so what line of work are you in'... me: 'Oh Im a tax examiner for the IRS'.... I NEEED IT TO HAPPEN.. I could have alot of fun with that...
