DOC

just a few questions about using a doc. How much do they usually cost? and what kind of things do they do for you? I know they 'help out' but more specifically. Im wondering if it would be necessary for me.

Re: DOC

DOC's can be anywhere from $250-$2000 - it all depends on who and how much you want them to do. My DOC works w/ me starting the month before the wedding when we go over every detail from A to Z. She will follow up and review everything w/ all of my vendors, she will be at the rehersal to meet everyone and go over everything w/ us and show us what to do, and she'll make sure everything is as it should be and if there is a problem she'll take care of it - and I don't even have to know about it. She is going to bring us breakfast the day of and she's also doing my makeup, so she'll be able to touch me up all day. She'll have my bridal emergency kit so I won't have to worry about putting one together. There are a ton of other things. Basically, I want her to do the worrying instead of me.

Re: DOC

The most basic explanation, without in any way demeaning what a DOC can do, is that she is a professional worrier. I am having my ceremony at a private house. I have parking issues, decoration issues, guest transport issues, sand ceremony set-up, music setup etc, at the site. At my house I have two OOT BM's, hair and makeup, flower delivery etc. At reception hall I have favors, centerpieces w/ candles that need to be lit, bathroom basket etc. My DOC (whoever she will be) will make sure everything is where it is supposed to be, when it is supposed to be there, and will make sure that things stay on schedule. That is not to say I don't trust my DJ, and florist to do their job, because I would not have hired them if I didn't, but it's not the DJ's job to make sure the tulle is hung the way I want it, and it's not the florist's job to make sure the sand ceremony is set up the way I want it. I like the idea of having one person whose job it is to make sure things are done the way I want them to be, and have all the other vendors have discussions with her the day of, rather than me if something comes up.
