Married ladies - did any of you NOT have a DOC?? Right now, I don't have one but after hearing about all of the snafus I am not sure I have anyone who could deal with all of that.

sorry i'm crashing i guess since i'm not married yet...

honestly I don't think I would ever consider having one and I'm glad that Ilana posted in the other thread earlier that the majority of her issues were with her DOC. My mom and MOH are very thorough and responsible and know what I want better than some stranger ....but that's JMO

Re: DOC

I didn't have one and nothing bad happened. The only issue we had was we didn't have enough money for the overtime payment for the limo on us, but our BP literally threw money at us. EVERYTHING else was taken care of either by the SandCastle, our photogs or our limo drivers. A DOC didn't fit into our budget and we didn't really miss it.

HTH!

So are my mom and moh and my moh is the one that forgot my shoes... my moh was more nervous at my wedding than i was

ETA: they are notally not necessary... but for my situation after the fact it would have been better if i had someone else there that was solely dedicated to making sure everything went ok

Re: DOC

I had what my friends and family call my wedding day entourage.

Here are things my DOCs did:

Brought bagels to my house so everyone would have breakfast while we were getting ready.

Fixed buttons that flew of tuxes

Fixed the top of my mom's dress, it wasn't altered right and it was too big on top.

Handled all our tips

Brought everything to the church and organized it

Helped get me in my corset because no one in my BP knew how to tie it.

Kept in communication with all our vendors to make sure they were all on time and where they needed to be.

Touched up my hair and makeup.

Helped set the tables put on the chair covers at my RH so that everything looked awesome.

Someone spilled coffee on my mom, they got the stain right out.

Took care of getting my something borrowed from my cousin for my ceremony and gave it back to her when it was over.

Best investment we ever made, we didn't worry about a thing... and when we did they were ON IT. I really liked that all my guests could be guests and no one had to worry about any details.

It worked for us... and I'd hire them again in a heart beat.

Re: DOC

I highly reccomend one and I found a way to budget a wonderful DOC!
You should focus on getting beautiful and getting married on you day. Not track down vendors, double ck on their work, pay out cash tips, clean up and break things down, and then running around checking yourself into a hotel (etc).

I am VeRy happy with my DOC and can't believe how much time and effort she takes. They really do go above and beyond. FM me for more information about them if you like.

I'm SO happy I had a DOC! She took care of everything. At first my family thought we were crazy for hiring a DOC. By the end of the day they were all convinced she was amazing.
