Re: DOC duties
I know that they spend the day with you and deal with the vendors and any issues that come up. To get a better idea, go to the Exquisite Affairs website and see their packages so that you can have a list of things that are offered and that they can do for you.

Re: DOC duties
My DOC (Francesca from Dazzling Affairs) handled just about everything.
She set up and broke down the chairs for the ceremony, and supervised the decorating the day of.
She made sure the programs and rose petals (for the toss) were handed out at the ceremony.
She was at my rehearsal and helped coordinate the walk down the aisle.
She grabbed people all day when they were needed for photographs so I didn't have to go running.
She pinned the bouts on all the guys, after she brought them from my house (where the florist left them) to the ceremony.
She got my groom (and the rest of the guys and the judge) in position so he (they) couldn't see me arrive.
She directed traffic for all the late arrivals to the ceremony.
She made sure I ate (both breakfast and at the reception).
She fixed my hair, my makeup, my bustle my whatever - whenever I needed it fixed/repaired at any point during the entire day.
She handed out the tips to the vendors at the end of the night.
She drove DH & I from the reception hall to the hotel with all our stuff from the wedding (cake topper, champagne flutes, table cameras etc).
She set up the hotel room with candles, rose petals and a special bottle of champagne that DH had purchased.
There is a ton of other stuff that she did both the day of and before the wedding. You can read my review for the complete list.

Re: DOC duties
i think every bride should have a day of coordinator so you dont have to deal with the stress on that day...even if you cant afford a professional select someone who you know is well organized, can multi-task, can keep thing order, easy to work with but still direct will put 100% into taking care of bisness...i asked my girlfriend Angie she is a HS teacher and she takes no crap..i know i can count on her on that day
