so.. i'm sure this post has been up a million times but i don't have hte patience to go looking through pasts posts lol.
I'm trying to decide if i need a DOC or not for my wedding day. Here are the reasons that i think i MIGHT need one: I'm having pictures places all around the reception hall of family and friens. I know i bring them a few days before but whose to say they are set up properly. I'm not going to have a florist do the church. To save $ we are going to get some seasonal plates to use as decor and something simple DIY for the pews. I don't know if my church allows us to go the night before to set up or what.
The church is 5 min away but the RH is about 30-45 min away so im not sure what to do.
I also have no clue how much they run or know who is good.
Ideas?

Re: DOC or no DOC
I went through the same issue as you are...I wasnt sure if I need one. Here are the reasons why I decided to hire one:
- my church begins at 2pm- its over at 3... I wanted to be able to have time to take outside pics before the sun sets. (The sun sets that day at 4:30)
- SHe is setting up the branches that I bought for the church pews.
- SHe will be taking the branches down and then using them to set up my place card table at the rh.
- I have 13 people in my bridal party and she will make sure that they are organized.
- My family (and myself) have a terrible habit of being late- so well be on time with her
- and if anything goes wrong...I dont have to even think about it.
In the end I thought it was a good idea and she wasnt a ton of money. I felt that she was reasonably priced for the amount of time she would be spending with me.

Re: DOC or no DOC
i paid about $600. To me it was worth it, i didnt want to deal with ANYTHING that day and didnt want my mom or bm's to deal with anything either. Bc of my DOC i was able to be very stress-free an relaxed that day, i didnt pay attention to any details, i let go of all that and just enjoyed the day.
But its really up to you and whether you feel its worth it. You'll see some post that they couldnt have imagined their day without a DOC and others who say they did it all without a DOC and everything went great and was fine without one. Its just personal preference, no right or wrong.

Re: DOC or no DOC
I didnt have one...I played with the idea but decided against it. My mom is vry detail oriented and really was on point...she gave jobs to my aunts and my BM's she's a retired teacher..so she had the time and she is used to organizing and giving out jobs. Honestly if I did not have her I would have bc I am NOT organzied and would have been frazzled. I think that DOC can be a great thing..it depends on your personal situation HTH

Re: DOC or no DOC
I think it's definitely worth it. They're there more to coordinate among the vendors and make sure things like cake cutting, speeches, parts of the meal, etc. run smoothly. Without it, you may forget about doing things if you're dancing or talking to people, etc. Less stuff for you to stress out, and that makes life soooo much easier.

Re: DOC or no DOC
I am not getting one because I feel I have a handle on things since we are just at one venue. But with all those things a DOC might be good if you can afford it. Most people who use one rave about it and how great the services were.

Re: DOC or no DOC
I am going to be getting one because personally, I am the type of person that gets stressed out easily. I just know that there is no way that I will be able to keep to a timeline and can't depend on my mom or MOH. I just like the comfort of knowing that things will be on time and that my day will be stress free, even if things go wrong. I also like to know that I can have someone to email about idea throughout the whole planning process. The one I am going to book lets you have unlimited contact with her up until the day of the wedding, even if I just need to 'vent'.

Re: DOC or no DOC
I'm not having one... I'd much rather save the money. If something comes up at the wedding, or if stuff needs to be set up, that is what the maitre d/banquet manager/bridal attendant is for. When I was one I did all that stuff that DOCs do, and it didn't cost them anything. Granted I obviously wasn't at the church to set stuff up but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do it the night before, even before or after the rehearsal?
If you have the extra funds though, why not I suppose.... I'd just rather save the money or spend it elsewhere like on the honeymoon.

Re: DOC or no DOC
I have been struggling with the same thing. It seems you still have a lot of questions that I think you should get answers to before you deicide (like if you can decorate the church the day before etc.)
I think I am leading towards not getting one I am a bit of a control freak and would rather do things early myself. I also think tables and pics at the RH thast what RHs do all year long not everyone has a DOC and I have faith they will execute what I want.
I do have 20 ppl in the BP though so I am alittle nervous about that but oh well!!
This might not be much help I'm sorry. I just think talk to your church, mom, and RH before you committ or not.
