DOCs

Is anyone using one? The more I think about it, it sounds like a great idea but I'm not sure how much they are!

Im entertaining the idea ., At least a half day one. I know PWP do a great job but is out of my price range. I met with kerry from bunny hill events .com (no spaces) there one of my options.

they cost anywhere from $400 (lowest I've seen) to as much as $900-1K for complete day coverage. I think a DOC is worth it, esp if you are having a big wedding (over 100 guests). They can really help you out w/ the little things so that you can have a stress free day!

Re: DOCs

I used Ryan from Above & Beyond Events and her price was very reasonable (I think around $500 for the full day, plus she came to our RD and did our rehearsal with our families since we were getting married at the RH so we couldn't have a rehearsal otherwise, and goodness knows I didn't want to try to organize it myself!). She was wonderful, professional, and an absolute pleasure to work with!!! She's also a vendor on here.

Feel free to FM me if you want any more info or need her contact info! It was one of the best decisions I made for our wedding day -- getting a DOC -- and Ryan was so wonderful!

Just b.c I really have no clue...what will the MD and BA would do if I have a DOC???

If the DOC does all of this... will I be tipping the MD and BA for no reason? I mean...won't the MD and BA pick up the things a DOC does, at least some of it?

I think I really want one, but some other people are saying I don't really need one b.c the BA and MD do these things. Now, I'm undecided.

It depends on what your level of customization is for your wedding, how far in advance you want to plan it, and whether you have family members who are able to help carry out your vision on the day of your wedding.

A DOC will meet with you before the wedding and make sure that your entire vision for the day goes exactly according to your plan. You will meet the BA and MD on the day of your wedding once you get to the RH. Some RH will tell you who your MD is before the wedding day, but some don't. You will not sit down and talk with your MD before that day, so you can't tell them things like exactly how you want stuff arranged if you have anything particular you want. You can always write out instructions to the RH, but there's no guarantee it will be exactly how you envisioned it. With a DOC you get the peace of mind that all your planning will turn out exactly right because that's her job.

Also, most photographers don't know who people are in your family so even if you give them a 'must take' list they're not going to know who your cousin Dora is or whomever -- whereas your DOC is there to specifically make sure that every single picture you want shot is taken. She'll be the one who is responsible for reminding the photographer of those important shots you don't want to miss and keeping track on your must-take list.

If you have favors you want handed out at a certain time, your DOC can take care of that. Or if you want the escort card table arranged in a certain way, she'll do that. I had this grand idea of a great bubble entrance back into the CH after the ceremony and our DOC was actually the one who orchestrated it exactly to my vision. I was so ridiculously happy and got some amazing photos because of it.

When we forgot the marriage license at the hotel, our DOC was the one who ran back to get it. When the DJ asked DH for the rest of his fee in the middle of the reception , our DOC took care of it before I even knew!

My mom was prepping for major surgery a month after the wedding so she really wasn't able to do all these things that sometimes mothers can do for you, so by hiring a DOC, I was able to insure that my mom had a fabulous, worry-free time at our wedding as well.

It was worth every single penny.

The BA mostly just fluffed my dress and stood nearby the whole day. The maitre d' did a bit more -- got us food (but didn't consider DH's lactose intolerance and totally messed up our plates by putting cheese all over his and meat all over mine) and was very attentive and stuff -- really mostly like a really good, personal waiter. She was very sweet and we tipped her of course. But it was our DOC who paid attention and actually knew us and made us feel like real stars at our own wedding.
