My mom keeps asking me if it's common for the bride to know about the shower. She thinks it's going to be impossible to keep it a secret from me, and wonders how often brides to be are in on the surprise.

hardy har..
Monters, I want to know too, and I'd love to be involved, and my side of the family couldn't care less, but I don't think FH's family would be cool with me even knowing about it, much less actually planning it.

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
I know some of the details...I know when it is (because I helped pick the date). I know where it is...pretty much that's it. But...I am still excited!

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
'What's that mom... you want me to go to Rachel's Sweet 16 party?'
Hmmm when I was talking to Rachel, she said NO way did she want to have a Sweet 16, she wanted to go on a cruise with her friends instead (which she is.)
So, I figured it out.
But my mom is cute, she even had my Aunt send Sweet 16 invites. Oh well. I promise to act suprised.

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
I know because his family is ticked off at my friend for the planning she started without them, so they all were both telling me about all the arguing sending me into a balling idiot.

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
I know the date (b/c I had to fly to NY for it) But I do not know where it is, what the favors are, who is coming or even what the invites look like. I do know they went out already

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
Well, I know it's being planned, just b/c a couple of my friends have said they know when it is. When I was out with my BM for her b-day, she said that I had to stop talking about my wedding before she got drunk so that she wouldn't say anything she wasn't supposed to!

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
I did know. DH and I had already moved in together 5 months before our wedding date. I went to my mother's house to pick up the RSVPs since all the RSVPs were going to her house but addressed to me. She is very disorganized and messy thus she left the Bridal Shower invite on the couch out in the open to the public. I sat on the couch and look at it and saw the details of my shower. My mother was cooking dinner in the kitchen not knowing that the shower invite was on the couch. I put it back on the couch without her knowing that I saw the details. I left and she said 'see you Sunday.'
Another hint was one of my BM phone me to ask how the wedding plans were going and if she could help. I gave her an assignment/task of being a reader during our ceremony that she didn't have to memory but just project her voice clearly and loud during the ceremony in front of 150 people. I didn't want to give her a lot of tasks as it would be unfair. Before she hung up she said 'I'm excited to see you Sunday.' What's going on Sunday? (Sunday, July 28th, 2002 was my bridal shower) So, I knew about it. When the day came I acted surprised though, I was last to arrive at the luncheon and DH took me there. He left after taking me there.

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
Nobody told me anything and I wouldn't have wanted them to.
I figured out the date and knew it was one of two locations. I figured this out from a few hints given to me by mistake and also because I knew typically when it would be and due to some plans I had I figured the date.
I wouldn't have wanted anyone to tell me any details!! It was more fun this way!

Re: Do/did you know about your shower?
I know what the invitations look like because my mother showed them to me. I still wish I had realized she was going to use them for my shower because then I would have told her that I don't like them...I just didn't put 2 and 2 together.
I know that there's been lots of drama around the location and fighting between BMs and my mom...
Other than that I don't know anything. I'm sure I'll figure it all out though.
