Does any one know a good diet?

Original post by Frost

Does anyone know a good diet for people who do not eat meat? I'm looking to lose 20lbs by october 13th.

I'm a vegetarian and I ahave done well on Weight Watchers. I really wanted to stay away from fad diets, and Weight Watchers is not a fad diet, it's a whole lifestyle which is totally sustainable.

I did weight watchers and lost 20 lbs and i thought it was EASY!! it's worth a try. they encourage you to eat all different food groups so if you don't eat meat there are plenty of other ways to get protein.

Weight Watchers is really great because you not only have a really easy way to keep track of the healthy food you're eating, you also have a support system to keep you on track.

I work for a fitness company and when it comes to diet, we preach all the time is fruits and vegetables all the way! If you significantly reduce your starch and dairy intake, and instead focus on just filling your plate with vegetables and eating fruit for snacks, you will be able to feel healthier without depriving yourself. For breakfast, you can make yourself an egg white omelet with veggies or a fruit smoothie with chia seeds for protein. Lunch, do a salad with lots of veggies and grilled chicken or fish, and for dinner, fill your plate with veggies and a small portion of lean meat (like chicken), you won't find yourself hungry or deprived. Eat as many raw or steamed vegetables as you can, replace sweets with equally sweet fruits like mangoes and dates, and eat very small snacks every couple of hours so you never feel starving. (If you want more info or specific recipes you can just email me - our nutritionist sent us like a 10 page document full of healthy recipes and tips)

And of course, any gym class you go to (like zumba or spin) will help, and fitness dvd's like p90x will give you definition and let you do it at home.

You obviously need to find the fitness plan that fits your lifestyle, though, because you obviously want something that will make your whole life better, not just drop a couple of pounds for your wedding :)

I didn't notice before that you don't eat meat! Sorry! I also have vegan versions of the recipes because our nutritionist actually IS vegan, and eating a lot of your meals without the dairy may actually be the answer for you :)

What about working out? You probably won't lose that much weight with just eating different. I'd say 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training per day and you would get there while just cutting some white carbs. If you can't gett o the gym maybe those free zumba workouts on cablevision on demand!

I just started doing myfitnesspal again because I am on a budget and don't want to pay for weight watchers anymore! I am looking to add more friends for motivation -- myfitnesspal username is natalierose1085
