I was getting my nails done yesterday and I bumped into a girl i knew. We went to school together but never really hung out.
She got married a year ago and we were talking wedding. So I was telling her that I have 3 BM's and 2 MOH's. I told her my BM's will be in plum but I dont know what i want to do with my MOH's. Maybe put them in a gray of some sort.
Well it was like I offended her. She got so ****y and told me 'well no one does that anymore and it will look really funny in your pictures to have 3 girls in one color and 2 in another. You should just have them all in the same dress and give your MOH's bigger bouquets and different jewelry to really make them stand out'
So I got to thinking, maybe she is right. Maybe I should just have all the girls in the same thing. I told FI and he told me its our wedding and if thats waht I want to do in having 3 in one color and 2 in a different color its my choice.
My question is, do brides still do that, have there BM's in one color and there MOH in another??
Whats your thoughts about this?? What are you doing??

I'd be a little ***** too, if someone said that to me!!! My BM's will be in a reddish wine and my MOH will be in Champagne!! So there to her!!!

You should have told that girl to f%#@ off!!!
I am only having a MOH, but I see nothing wrong with having MOH in a different color, as lon as it is complimentary to the BM's dresses.
Go for it.

My girls are wearing the same dress/color. But the MOH lives here & the 2 others live in Oregon. SO the colors MIGHT not be a perfect match. I think some people still do it.

Re: Does anyone do this anymore, need some thoughts
I know a lot of people that still put the MOH in different colors. I was going to, but decided not to because my MOH is a very large woman-especially compared to most of my BM. I didn't want people to think that she couldn't fit into the same dress as the other girls.
Bottom line...I see nothing wrong with having different colors

See Melissa, that is why you didn't hang out with her in HS...she seems to be a **TCH. It's YOUR Wedding, not hers. Who says its outdated? I didn't know they offered a POLITICALLY CORRECT WEDDINGS 101 course otherwise I would have enrolled...I think it will look very pretty. I was actually in a wedding where we wore Celdaon Green/Silver gowns, and the Matron of Honor wore Silver/Silver. I think it looked very pretty!

Re: Does anyone do this anymore, need some thoughts
Thanks. my BM's are going to be in Plum and my 2 MOH's are going to be in either gray or lavendar. Same dress just in a different color. I havent really decided yet if thats how i am going to go. I like the gray color but we'll see how it goes for the 2 MOH's. My girls have so much time
I had to really bite my lip from saying what I really wanted to say to this girl. Here she is telling me what would look funny when her entire wedding was just sheer tackiness. (I went to her house and to church)
Just to give you a little inside look it was March her wedding day and here she is almost dressed hanging out, outside of her house talking to everyone. A horse and carriage pulls up and a nice graceful bride would wait till the very last minute to make her appearance, nope not this one, she comes running to the front door, walks outside, holds her gown up and tells the driver he is early and he needs to wait until she is ready, then storms off back into the house. When she is finally ready she comes outside and climbs, yes climbs into the horse and carriage. The guy was getting the step stool for her, but she just insisted on climbing into the buggy.
Some people just really amaze me.
Thanks everyone for your imput

wow that woman was rude! I have seen it both ways, and I find very intrusive to come so hard with a comment like that to you, especially after you haven't seen each other in a while. Do what you want, it is your day and there nothing wrong with your idea!

I agree with everyone - it's your wedding and you decide what you want to do. I think having your MOHs in a slightly different color would look cool. It sounds like a nice color combination.

Re: Does anyone do this anymore, need some thoughts
My MOH will be in a different color and that's they way I wanted it! If she would have encountered me and said that I would have told her to kiss my a$$ & I would have 'accidentally' hit one of her wet nails
Melissa it's YOUR wedding, your wedding is already going to be very different with the motorcycles and all so I say do what YOU like.
She probably had a traditional boring wedding anyway!!

What?????? You do what you want I would of told her I didnt ask for your opinion.
You can go both ways. I kept the girls in one dress only because it was easier.
I have seen it the other way and its still lovely.

Dont listen to her. If that is what you want, then GO FOR IT!!! I see nothing wrong. In fact people are doing a lot of that these days. No one is really going by tradition anymore. In fact it is what is going to make you wedding, and your bridal party very SPECIAL!!!!

People definitely still do this, I think it looks very nice. My girls will have the same color but my MOH is wearing a different style dress. Do what you have your heart set on don't let one persons opinion change your mind.

We really don't know what we're doing yet. But I agree, you do what YOU want. That is so rude. It's not her wedding it's yours.
