Does anyone else feel guilty when they stay home sick from work?

even though I still don't feel well.

I don't feel bad at all. I REVEL in it. Especially when I'm not really sick. I call them 'mental health' days.

There's no reason to feel guilty! You have sick days just for that reason. If your co-workers arrive to work deathly ill, spreading germs around, that's their problem!

Seriously though, this thing where corporate America gives you days off but punishes you when you take them is BS. And they have no right to know why you're taking paid days off - it's none of their business.

When I take time off, unless I don't have any paid days left, I don't give a reason. If I'm asked, I tell them it's for personal reasons. It's not up to them to decide what's a good reason or not. You don't need a reason.

All the time. I usually try and work and repspond from emails from bed, even though i know i should just sleep and relax.

I always do, too...even though I only call in if I am really sick. And I always let my mom, know too..I didn't know other people did that

I have such a pet peeve with people going into work sick when they are contagious. I mean, I understand if you have a cold or something but if you are throwing up from a virus please STAY HOME

at my old job I NEVER did! I hated that place and enjoyed my 'sick' days off

I don't feel bad, but then again, I can never get away from this place!! If I take a day off they act like the office can't function and call or email all day long. DH gets mad at me b/c he feels like if I am out, then I am out.

Before I leave on any type of vacation, I have to prepare a memo so that people know what is going on here.

i've gone to work with pink eye and nobody even said i should go home.

i always get sick around our busiest time of the year, mostly because it's winter and because i'm working 15 hour days. so i don't have much of a choose if i'm sick- i go in. nobody would say anything to me but i just don't want to be the person who's not there during the most important time.

Stay home?! What are you crazy?! I can't miss a day at work!! Feeling guilty is an understatement and then some. Luckily I can lock myself in my office and hide.

a little bit but not really anymore - - we have benefits for that reason - when i'm sick, i'm sick and half the time, they drive you so crazy you NEED a mental health day
