Is affecting the rest of your life? DH and I are completely miserable and tired everyday. By the time the weekends come around, we just want to lay on the couch (especially me) and do NOTHING!!! I feel that it is mostly recovery time. I want to be able to enjoy life and the time we have together and feel the energy to do things!!! It makes me feel depressed and lazy!!!

Re: Does anyone else feel that their job....
Yes ... DH quit his NYC job because he was so miserable with the effect the commute had on the rest of his life. He was unemployed waaaay longer than I would have liked, but I had to support his decision because I knew how completely unhappy he was ...

Re: Does anyone else feel that their job....
I feel your pain, I feel like I am going to look back one day and have lots of regrets of not leaving HOWEVER if I did leave there is no way we could pay for our house, bills, etc.

I feel the same way yet there seems to be no way out... Jenny- I commend you for going to get MAsters. My problem is that FH does not make a lot of money, so I have to work Full time to afford bills, housing, BUT when I work Full time, I'm too tired for school..If I dont work full time, I cant afford to go to school or put a roof over my head. Its such a catch 22 and I personally hate it!

I dont know what I want to do when I grow up so until then I feel stuck.
I beg DH everyday to let me quit.

I really hate my job! I get such a knot in my stomache when I get up in the morning to come. I have been actively looking to leave for the last week. My saving grace is LIW and my lunch hour of course!

EXACTLY!!! I'm in the same boat right now! As much as I would love to go back to school bc it would open new doors career-wise, I can't even fathom an additional expense on top of my cc debt, mortgage, student loan, household bills/expenses, and car payments! I'm hoping that one day it will even out so I can go back to school and finally move forward in my career, but right now I just feel like everyone I know is going back for their Masters and I'm just stuck in the same old rut with my job. It really burns my a$$ especially here at work bc all the little daddy's girls have their parents paying for everything, so they have no problem going back to school! Unfortunately, there's no possible way we could swing that kind of expense right now - and I don't want to take out any more loans..... UGH - It's such a vicious circle!!!

It totally does. I work 7 days & DH works 6. We are always exhausted. The last two nights we both fell asleep before 10 pm
The good thing is that we know it is temporary & we will only have to do this until we make the down payment for our house (which is off LI btw..or we could not afford it)!

Re: Does anyone else feel that their job....
It's so hard these days.....everything is so complicated. I am not happy at my job, feels like a dead end and i dont want to be in the corporate world anymore. But my DH and Iwant to have a baby...so I feel like I am stuck where I am for now bc a new place will not be so forgiving for sick days, etc. Plus with my service date here I get a decent amt of maternity leave and will prob be able to work at least 1 day from home. So I'm stuck! Then add to that the fact that I am up at 530, leave at 7am get home at 7pm, then dinner, laundry, etc etc it never ends. Collapse in bed at 1130pm. Ridiculous!

Re: Does anyone else feel that their job....
You have to have a goal in mind and work toward that. Then, when your job sucks, it won't hurt so bad because you will know that you are working toward something else.
Like me, I went to college and ended up in a SH!T job that I hated!!! (In retrospect, I could probably could have sued the company for hostile work environment).
But, I saved up until I had enough money to go to grad school and quit the job. But, having that goal got me through that job MUCH easier.
Now, I finished grad school. This job is MUCH better than that other one, but I am still not happy. So, my new goal it to save up and start my own business.
Goals...they get ya through the day..

Re: Does anyone else feel that their job....
well, at least we can take solace in the fact that we're not alone in feeling like this! I don't know if I'm naieve or just self centered - but for a while I was thinking that I was the only who had feelings like this - like there HAD to be a better way to do everything where I could just be happy and not so listless all the time! The only time I don't feel like this is when I'm not at work, but there's no way I could even quit my job to be a SAHW/SAHM. Man, when will there be a way to balance everything out? If any of you ladies discover this secret, be sure to share it!!!
In the meantime - HUGS for eveyone!! We all bust our butts to do what we can in order to have a good life, and it's not easy! It sounds like eveyone here cares very much about making life the best we can - and not everyone cares about that, so we should give ourselves credit for making the attempt, no matter how ragged we feel at the end of the day. It helps me to remember that I'm not alone, and the things DH and I are doing now are done with good intentions so that we can have a nice life. Sorry if I'm rambling - I just think we all deserve a pat on the back for our valiant efforts

I can totally relate .. we're 'stuck' in a position where I simply need to continue working both of my jobs .. and I'm just plain tired on my days off .. and lack motivation to do anything far too frequently. Hubby busts his butt too .. things are just not 'fun' .. but I do admit, I like what I do.

honestly....I'll say it until I am blue....you are talking about your future. I have my rent, utilities, car payment, low paying job (2 for that reason), etc.....
But a few years of loan payments will make me enjoy life more....and pay off themselves in the gratification.
I really see no catch in it. If it's really something you want, you'd do it. It took me a while to make the decision...and I'll find a way to make the money work. My future is too important to wait away.
Its not that easy. We cannot get any loans due to bad credit. Totally our fault yet not easily gotten out of. We have very little left over every paycheck due to low paying jobs, so we make do day by day. We would love ( me and FH) especially me, to finish school...If I'm working ,theres just no way to do that and we are on our own, we cant have one person not working. If it was all a matter of a loan, believe me, I'd have my Masters by now!
I'm not saying either that Im 'not' doing it..I'am in school but I take one class a semester or every other..that $1000 for one class is VERY hard to come by, and so at this rate I figure I have at least 10 years before I graduate , so in the mean time I hate the life I have career wise and the 'fix' is a LONG time coming and I hate that a lot!
If everyone was able to 'choose' to change their jobs, lives then we would have a world of happy people .
I think sometimes its not a matter of choosing or working hard, circumstance can hold you down.
