that all these vendors only take CASH payments?! Now that I'm getting down to the wire, I'm realizing that no one will even accept a personal check! Cash or certified check only (which is basically cash). I knew the reception hall was this way, but even my florist will not accept a a personal check! And credit cards are certainly not an option for them. Thai is just insane to me!! Sorry. Had to vent.

I know what you are going through. One possible option is to pay the florist earlier. Mine will take personal check if I pay more than a week in advance. I would rather not pay the limos and band ahead of time. That means withdrawing wads of cash right before the wedding.

I'm still in the beginning stages of planning, so I may be a little dumb on this, but do you have to pay the reception hall in cash as well? Do you pay the day of the wedding or beforehand? How much do you have to leave when you book the hall? Thanks.

When we booked at the Port Jefferson Country Club, they wanted a $1,000 deposit to book the date. Then at 6 months before they want 25% of the remaining balance. And then 1 week before, you give them the rest in either a certified check, bank check or cash. For our deposit we used a credit card over the phone. Basically it depends on the place. Hope this helps!

Your hall will give you a schedule. The final payment is the BIG one and they usually require cash, certified check or bank check. We pay the final 10 days before based on the expected cost. We can change our number attending up to 48 hours before, so I guess there can be corrections to the bill later. I don't know how it works yet, but I will in a month! Your first payment can usually be on a card. I sent personal checks for the middle two payments.

Well, they want to make sure that they get the final $ due them. If you pay with anything other than cash or certified check then you can stop payment and they won't get paid. I guess they allow checks and credit cards as deposits because if you want them to show up the day of the wedding, you'll pay what they require up to that point.

Lisa, I had to leave a $500(check) deposit and then every month $500(check) until I reached $5,000, then 10 days before the wedding the balance is due in either cash or certified check. Not all places make you pay a certain amount up front. My sister-in-law only paid the $500 deposit and the rest is due one week before the wedding.Welcome New Vendors
