Does anyone else here NOT like Disney?

Original post by tourist

I've never really been a Disney fan. I went once as a kid, it was fun, but I dont' get the whole adult Disney thing. I staye din Orland for spring brak once, b/ca friend 's family had a tiem share & we only went to MGM b/c we had a free pass & downtown disney for the restaurants, movie thearte & bars, b/c we didn't know where much else was in the area.

MIL has all sorts of Disney stuff, even a Mickey wine stopper.

I just don't get it. Miceky isn't even cute as far as cartoon characters go.

I'm going to pretend you didn't just write that.

I want to keep liking & respecting you ( and Jax!)

I'm really pretty normal otherwise. If you don't mention disney, you might actually think I'm a normal, perfectly sane adult.

I am total Disney fan. I love Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. I have alot of Disney status, movies, etc. I love animation movies.

Snow White was the first princess and she is the best princess.

Seriously Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is such a beautiful movie. The animation is beauiful by today's standards and at the time it was groundbreaking.

Walt Disney was such an innovator in animation. He made the first color cartoons, the first synchronized sound/motion cartoons and the first full length animated feature. he also pioneered a lot fo equipment like the multiplane camera sue in snow white. he was also combining cartoons and live action back in the 30's and 40's. And look at all of the amazing technology with audio animatronics and the like.

I agree with you that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is such a beautiful movie. I always used to tell my mother that 'some day my prince would come' and the day I got I met my DH he did.

That's one of the reasons I don't like those kinds of movies.

Who needs a prince? I'm just not a happy-ending-fairy- tale type of person.

Actually there have been books on this. There's a book called 'How to read donald duck' and it talks about the kind of cultural messages disney cartoons show. Beofre all of the naimated features were popular all over the world, dinsye ahd comic books of mickey and donald duck and stuff, and it's amazing some of the things the book pointed out.

Did you ever notice that most of the dinsey characters have no mother? w t f is up with that?

I completely agree...there is tons of psychology lessons to learn from disney..ok..snow white...no mom, some 'daddy issues' and gets taken in by 7 guys who sleep in the same room together...lol...

I LOVE disney movies though...I think they are wonderful and I can't wait to watch them all again when i have kids :)

Sorry I missed the rest of the conversation..i actually had to go work! Go figure!

Jenn, you really do have a LOT of stuff. I have a billion disney beanie babies, but I worked at teh disney store during the time I was collecting them. I have a ton of random disney stuff at my parent's house, including my favorite - my beauty and the beast snowglobe.

I also have a Tickle Me Elmo and multiple Tweety Bird stuffed animals, including one that sings in a cage. What can I say? I'm a big kid!

I would, if I were ever going to get a tattoo. The only problem is that like I saw one lady witha piglet tattoo and it was SOO cute...but it was a little 'off' you know..it didn't look EXACTLY like piglet..and that would drive me nuts...

Maybe I'd get dopey, or a little tiny apply, with 'snow white' written in caligraphy

I was just thinking I could get like pooh picking a flower on my shoulder...SO cute.

I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo. I'd love to, but I don't know...I've never even emranent dyed my hair
