DOES ANYONE ELSE NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING WHERE THEY WORK?
The one stinky and sticky thing about being a teacher- I am sooooo hot! I have 3 fans going in my classroom and it is not helping one bit. The poor kids!

our building is screwy. we have a couple areas where the AC is BLASTING! then the big room in between the cold rooms is hot, has no a/c vents. so we have to keep these doors open to try and cool off the hot room. but im in the icy cold room.

No AC?
OMG no way in hell! You mean there are school here that have no AC for the children?
Tell me where.. I NEVER want my child to suffer like that.
If I had no AC at work, I'd quit. I hate being uncomfortable it ruins my concentration.
Schools without AC is insane!!!

I'd be surprised to hear of a school that DID have A/C.

Honest to god.. Im not trying to sound rude though I know it probably will..
I can NOT believe you don't have AC. I mean even those window installed things are better than nothing.
Yes, it really does shock me that anyone can expect a child to concentrate in boiling heat.
I guess Im just spoiled from Texas. Just because people do without for so long, doesn't mean they should 'have' to in these days.
I refuse to live anywhere without AC (one form or another) it was even a requirement before I'd visit Jim in his home when we dated. I doubt I'll ever change.
I can't imagine having children whom I love and care for in my AC'd house going to school in an Non-AC'd place. Makes no sense to me at all!
Heck the AC in my car right now is broken and I just don't drive it when it's over 80 degrees, at all.
I'm not saying it's gonna kill the kids or hinder them so much it's an excuse to fail, but why make it harder than it has to be?

Re: DOES ANYONE ELSE NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING WHERE THEY WORK?
I guess since school is out of session during the really hot months, it's not as necessary as it would be in say Texas. I remember it sucked when I was in school but it was only for a little while.
It's also very unseasonable wam right now, tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low 70's.
Considering the schools budgets are in bad shape, chalk and copy paper is a premium, I can see where a/c is a luxury.

Send your kids to private school and they should be fine.

I am sure people that work in a kitchen don't mind the heat terribly, (or they'd get out - sorry couldnt resist the pun )
but sitting at a desk working, you don't need to be uncomfortably cold.

or move back to Texas. NY is too cheap to give our kids A/C.

LOL It has been discussed. Jim spent most of this education up near Albany. I spent mine in Texas. We love what NY has to offer in speciality and choices galore, but the cost and other factors have weighed in. I really don't want to be in NY State longer than it takes to get my degree.
