I'm a teacher also...at one time we were sitting in the classroom with the lights off because it seemed a little cooler.

you have got to be kidding ...........people complaining about being cold....i work in a kitchen that has got to be 110 all the time, thats when it's not 90+....
I am sure people that work in a kitchen don't mind the heat terribly, (or they'd get out - sorry couldnt resist the pun )
but sitting at a desk working, you don't need to be uncomfortably cold.
ok you have a job for me.....i have been doing this for 21 yrs........so if you can help ........

My last school had a/c (b/c the kids were physically handicapped and many had seizure disorders) but there isn't a/c in my district now. I am in two buildings and one of my rooms doesn't even have a window! It has been hot!

I know how you feel.......My classroom is on the third floor and it is discusting in my room. And what stinks the most is that the second floor teachers have A/C. It just doesn't seem fair to me! Well only two more weeks left.....we'll just have to hang in there!

I guess since school is out of session during the really hot months, it's not as necessary as it would be in say Texas. I remember it sucked when I was in school but it was only for a little while.
It's also very unseasonable wam right now, tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low 70's.
Considering the schools budgets are in bad shape, chalk and copy paper is a premium, I can see where a/c is a luxury.
You are so right! Not to mention the fact that when they put in our new windows 4 years ago they have screens, we never did before, but they put safety locks on them so you can only open them 6 inches at most! It is brutal. I understand why we don't have them for the 2 months that we MIGHT need them. It just SuckS for the kids because this always seems to happen right before their finals start.
Veronica that is one of the reasons, why our schools do not go back into session until September as opossed to August like many other areas. Also most schools are not new, they are remodeled but definitely not new, so they never had them built in.

I have a BROKEN air conditioner taking up my window And the headmaster won't take it out because he thinks it works fine, and that I should at least use the fan on it......well, it blows out HOT air ARGH!!!!!!!! I spend all of my free time in the computer lab that has AC.

I work in a kitchen too... My oven is set at 500 degree's at all times...It is pretty sad when you have to go and stand in a walk in cooler to cool off for a couple of seconds then start running around again..... Today I was defrosting stuff in the sink with the water running and we would all go and stick out hands in the ice water to cool off... Now that is pathetic

Most of the time my building is also freezing! The a/c feels nice when I get to work at 7pm, but by midnight its freakin cold in there, and at least I get the 'luxury' of wearing a scrub coat, I feel bad for the patients that only get to wear a gown and have a sheet at most covering them!
