Someone I know is getting married in October. They still haven't had her shower yet. Now, I'm told it's 8/24. We got her wedding invitation a couple of days ago, in which I responded right away.
Do you believe I have not received the invite to her shower yet? I know I'm invited so it's not a question of that. I just can't believe her BP would wait this long to send the invites out.
Do you think this is rude or am I wrong in this? I almost feel like not going but I don't feel as if she should lose out because her bridal party screwed up.

maybe you should call up the bridal party and remind them that invites need to go out?? they definately should have gone out in advance

Re: Does anyone else think this is rude?
if it makes you feel any better, I just found out about a Christening today for the 24th. However, I can't go b/c I responded yes to a baby shower on that day (I just got that invite on Moday)
Some people like to wait for the last minute!

It would not bother me. Either I am busy or I am not. I would not be insulted. Its just poor planning on their part.

Has anyone received an invite yet? Perhaps yours got lost in the mail. If not, her BP is cutting it awfully close, that's less than a few weeks away. I bet they get a lot of people who can't make it on such short notice. Poor bride.

Re: Does anyone else think this is rude?
I just got a bridal shower invite TODAY for 8/17! Thats next weekend (and I can't go because we have a wedding in Seattle - invite only came 4 weeks before the wedding, not a lot of notice for a wedding)
I guess I don't think its rude - some people just aren't as on top of things as the LIW crowd

My mom hasn't got hers yet either, so I know it's just that they haven't gone out yet.
I just think that 2 weeks notice is a very short time for a bridal shower. I mean they've had the place booked for months. It's not like this is an invite to a backyard BBQ. Thank god my mom has the inside scoop and we know where she's registered.

Yes I agree, I think it's rude. My friend's shower is this month (can't say exactly when b/c she knows I chat on this site and may be lurking to see if she can find out when it is) and she's also getting married in October and the invites were sent out in the beginning of July.

I don't think it's rude, but it is late. I feel bad for the guest of honor though. A lot of people probably won't be available to go to the shower on short notice in the summer.

I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe they've spoken with everyone they want to come so they figure there's no rush in sending out invites. If you are close with one of them, I'd just ask why you haven't received an invite yet, that might clear up any misunderstanding.

I agree some people have no concept of these things. It's not necessarily TOO late yet, if her wedding's not until October, but I understand your feelings of urgency.
Sounds like my sister (MOH)!!! She is so scatterbrained and has such poor planning skills. I wish I could just do it all sometimes because she is so far gone... But that's another story!

Just for consolation...I invited someone to our wedding, wasn't invited to their wedding, but just got invited to their baby shower! People are just rude!

They're definitely cutting close, but it's more rude to the bride than to you. If you can make it go, if not, then it's their loss.

Hopefully, the slacking of her BP will not be a poor reflection of her wedding.

Just an update: I finally got the invitation today. I just feel badly for the bride. I hope most people knew about it already otherwise I think there might be a poor turnout.
