Does anyone feel

Re: Does anyone feel

I completely feel the same way. I often wonder what the heck is so unlovable about me. Why does no one but my mom and sister and FH want to really see me and share in any of my own happiness. It's quite depressing, so yeah, thanks for bringing it up. Just kidding. It's true though, it ***** that people can cause us so much disappointment. t has taught me to not expect much.

Beth I know exactly how you feel. I wrote up my invite list for my shower and it depressed the heck out of me to realize how few people on it were my actual friends as opposed to family members or friends of my mom that have known me since I was very young.

Re: Does anyone feel

I have a best friend but I am kind of a sensitive person and I'm always bummed out when I feel like my friends aren't around for me. I had so many friends who I care about so much that have basically just vanished for no aparent reason and it really hurts b/c it leaves me to think what did I do worng you know what I'm saying....But chin up because you have other people that care about you in your lives!!!

It's hard though, weddings are designed to count how many people you have in your life. Your bp, your guest list, etc. It just makes me feel alone and I can't wait for it to be over.

That's true I have found out friends that i thought were close really aren;t. My maid of honor became my best friend over time.... never thought it would end up like that so don't count out the new friends you make you will be surprised. ..... Sometiems the people that you don't know for a really long time are the ones that will do the most for you. The ones you have known forever sometimes are the first to not be there for you.

Re: Does anyone feel

honestly, i dont really have a 'best' friend either, other than FH of course. i have alot of guy friends (because guys are ALOT less complicated) and i have a handful of girl friends that i am VERY close with. but i can't honesty say that i would call any one of them my 'best' friend. i'm okay with it. i hang out with each of them and there's no typical girls getting catty and saying 'you spend more time with her than you do with me', etc. i used to have a best friend that was like this and it was making me insane!!!

i'm much happier being able to hang out with a bunch of girls that i am VERY close with, rather than just 1 girl.

and besides, you always have the LIW girls to hang with!!!!

I'll be your friend Cheer up- I feel the same way sometimes. I call my friends 'friends' but if they have something better to do I get pushed aside. I have only a few close friends, and no 'best' friend other than my DH, who finds it hard to relate to me sometimes when my PMS kicks in

Re: Does anyone feel

I have been in your position before. But in some ways, I truely feel FH is my true best friend and I am content with that. I have friends at work and great friends outside of work, but they all have other friends as well. These friends are people I might confide in and talk to every day, some once a week, some once a month, but FH is the person who is there for me every day, regardless. He is there with me through the ups & the downs, the good times and bad.

I have been through many friends through the years. FH has had the same group of best friends since elementary school. At first, I felt the way you did. But now I realize, no matter how many years they have spent together and how long they have known each other, FH and I still have a friendship that is much different, much closer and much stronger.

Keep your head up. We all feel like this at some point or another.

I can relate too.

My friends are in NJ and I live in Wisconsin. We just lead different lives now. Most of them still live the swinging single life of partying. I am just not into that anymore.

I have lived in Wisconsin for a year and we have made some friends but it's just not the same. FH moved here from Sweden so it is even worse for him.

seems like the girls on this board are really nice and caring. It's nice to come here and ready how other people are dealing with the same issues.

like they don't have a best friend (other than FH/DH)? I feel like all my close friends have their own best friends, but I don't. Even my FH has guy best friends (like 4). It just hurts so much and makes me feel alone.

I feel the same way. Wanna be my friend? lol

*Group hugs!*

Girls, I sympathize completely, I grew up in a family of 6 kids so we were never in need of friends, we had each other. Then I got married young and got my first hubby - everyone seems to think just 'cus you're married you're not available for single events anymore. :P

I came away from the marriage 4 years later and immediately met my fiance so my best friends has always been my siblings or men of my life...

I definitely agree with all of you!!! Making new friends post-wedding, post-college is so hard. People, at this point, is their lives tend to act like, 'I already have my friends, I don't need anymore.' It's really painful because I try to me social, outgoing, funny, etc. and although people are friendly in return, when I ask them to grab a drink on the weekend , they say, 'Oh, I'd love to but I have plans already ... with my friends.'

Aww i feel so bad!!! I have felt like that in the past. When i was dating my ex it was really just the 2 of us.. i had lost touch with my friends and he didnt really have any friends.. and looking back am not suprised as to why... but if i were you i would try to touch base with old friends, thats what i did and they are my best friends all over again. And as always we are here for you!!!

i feel ya sister!!
i havent had a best friend really since i was a kid.
theres a reason why all of my close friends never made it to 'best friend' status. its so apparant now, because i decided that theres NO WAY im having a MOH. im an only child and my mom already has a place in the wedding (i know of a few girls that chose their mom). i havent officially asked people to be in my party yet, but i know one of my friends prob thinks shes my MOH but thats only cause shes full of herself and cant see the big picture.
put it this way..of the three girls i plan to ask to be in my party, 2 of them have forgotten my birthday at least once in the past 5 years, one of which forgot it this year (it was only 3 weeks ago..). now HOW SAD IS THAT!! these are supposed to be my 'best' and 'closest' friends. oh yeah did i mention that the one of the three girls that didnt forget my birthday happens to be my cousin...

anyway i totally feel ya..i have adapted much better to FH's friends than my own. his friends are much better people in general. my friends are like default friends from high school that i happen to still hang out with. but we have never been on the same wavelength..were always on different levels...

it makes me sad, but everytime i go into a new part of my life (for example, i started a new job last week) i think 'hey, maybe this is the place that ill finally find that best friend.' cause when it comes down to it...were never too old for a best friend!! for right now FH is filling that role JUST fine!

awwww
I've realized that the older I get the more I drift away from my best friends. I still love them with all my heart it's just that now we have different friends and ideas of what is fun. I sometimes feel alone but i'd rather be alone then compromise and do things with them that I don't enjoy.

This I can totally sympathize with - I have some great friends, but I have a very small and highly dysfunctional family and both of my parents are long gone - it's hard. Wedding planning really highlighted how alone I was and in so many different ways, but I got through the planning and I never noticed at the wedding itself. Your planning will be over soon too! Good luck. Please feel free to FM if you need to chat.
