Does Anyone Feel Like A Wedding Is A Giant Social Test?
...Or is it just me?
It's like a test of who you are as an individual or couple.
- your taste in music - you creativity - your style - your ability to cope with stress - your preference for food - your dance skill - your etiquette know-how - your everything!
One giant freaking test of which if you pass, you'll learn a whole lotta about yourself and those around you.

Yes...I totally felt that way in the beginning, but now that we are so close I dont care if I 'pass.' FH had a conversation with me that it is impossible to please everyone. No matter how great my wedding is there will be someone who hates something I chose and I had to just accept it. It was hard to listen to, but it really put everything into perspective for me and I was able to let go.

OK, date twin, who’s stressing you out??
I don't think of it as a test but more of an opportunity for my family and friends to see how I translate my uniqueness and style into the affair... how does that sound??

i'm a little nervous about how everyone will react to the decisions we've made for the wedding, especially those people i've never met before. but i'm just trying to focus on the fact that i will be marrying FH. and that is what's most important. just be yourself.

i love the optimistic approach you're taking. you're damn right too! your wedding day is a day for you to show off your talent, your style, your creativity and yourself dammit! :D
and u're pretty perceptive about someone bugging me ;) .. i had a near disaster of a shower over the weekend (lateness, subpar food and service, u name it) and i'm just worried people will view that as an indication of what's to come at the wedding. :(

If they're not there to celebrate your committment to each other, their opinion is not worth worrying about!
Besides, you had nothing to do with planning that shower! Don't worry... it's going to be great.

Awwww!!!!!!! I wouldn't worry about it - even IF your shower was at the same place as your wedding it gives you the chance to work out the kinks - if it was in a different place you could tell your hall what concerns came up in your shower that you want to make sure don't happen at your wedding, like 'I had my shower at XXX and the servers weren't refreshing everyone's coffee - I want to make sure your staff is on top of my guests...' That sort of thing. In the beginning I worried at bit about people not liking it because my FH and I listen to very eclectic music and we're programming all the music so there probably won't be any real 'dancing' but then I decided it's OUR wedding and WE'RE paying for it and we often go to events where WE have a bad time, so for THIS event we just want to make sure WE put all our personality into it, and if we’re having a great time it will be infectious to all our guests… or…. That’s the plan anyway….. I’ll let you know on October 2nd how it went…

i think it can be, but i'm gonna try not to let it get that way for me - it's something that would stres me out beyond belief if it did! (i hate conflict!)
that being said, i still don't want to offend anyone and make it really creative. =0P

NO! NO f_ING WAY!!!!! I'm doing it the way I WANT to do it and that's it! I don't care what anyone says about MY flowers and MY invites, etc.. They can do what THEY want at their wedding!!! But as far as mine goes, I COME FIRST! NOONE ELSE!!!
