Or is it just me?
As it is I am having a small wedding and it is adding up so quickly! I can't believe how much we spend on 1 day!

Absolutely...........100% ...having huge difficulties getting my head around this.....and know when its all over I will have had a great day but no matter how good it is it will never compensate for the fact that I would have preferred to elope....and the fact that we are moving into our new house at the end of the year and will be sitting on milk crates for the next 12mths while we save more money....***** but parents put the big guilt trip on me so here I am...........watching the $$$$ pile up and sucking it up

I hear you!!!!!!! So glad I am not alone here! When we first got engaged (last month), FH and I said we wanted a VERY low key kind of wedding, just immediate family & friends – we are saving for a house and that is SO much more important. Well one thing lead to another and here we are, having it in a hall. His mom and my folks are chipping in for the hall, which really helps. But there are SO many other expenses which are REDICULOUS! I just realized that between hair & makeup trials and the day of hair & makeup that I will be spending $400 just on that. Good grief! Limos for us is probably the biggest waste of money… but everyone does it right?
Sorry, I just had to vent… it is so much money for 1 day… it’s nuts.

My Aunt sent me a book of wedding trivia yesterday. Americans spend $15 billion a year on weddings. and... there are 2.2 million weddings in the US each year.
The avg. cost of a wedding in the US is $28,000 - holy cow!

And the average cost of a NY wedding? MUCH higher than $28K...sickening!

yea, I've heard that from a lot of people.
So, do you feel it was worth it? do you have any regrets?

I could puke!!! We sat down to figure out what's left to be paid...I just have no clue how we're going to do it!!! FH is a car salesman and is going into 'overdrive' (no pun intended) to sell his butt off. AND we're trying to do everything 'low key' too...even low key is too much $$!

well...weddings are magical. they are worth every penny, every second invested into the event. could i have done something else with all that money... of course.. i would of paid less for certain things but overall, im excited our day went perfect in everyway.
my only regeat was that it was so short...so i would of extended the event by like 30 mins or so and i would seperate ceremony/reception locations (times) becuase its even quicker when its right in back of each other. i missed cocktail hour.. so during recpetion, i was busy collecting cards and saying hello.

we're doing the low key thing as well.... it's still a lot. Oh well... you only get married once, right? That's what I keep telling myself to make it easier to swallow.

As much as I am looking foward to this wedding...I sometimes wonder if I would have planned to get married on a beach somewhere....but then I remind myself that I have been planning this day since I was 6

It is so much money. I guess I did cut alot of money our here and there, but they are places I would have rather spent the money. Like my dress, or my hair, or my gifts to parents and attendents, or my honeymoon. But all this little stuff, like favors (which I love giving gifts but come on, they just got dinner) and RD cause we are paying for that, and just junk. Man, at this rate, I would have been better off just calling people to invite them to the wedding since no one responds with the rsvp cards.
