I have IBS also and it SUCKS! Over the past 5 years it has gotten worse and worse. I have been to a few Dr.s and basically they tell me to try to eat right and not be stressed. What it eat right? They say it is diffrernt for everyone with IBS. The was a post of NWR not to long ago about stomach problems and IBS. ETA; http://www.liweddings.com/chat/topic.aspx?ID=143878

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
WOW I was going to post this topic but I thought no one would understand. I have a VERY nervous stomache, it's not considered IBS but it's like that. ANYTHING that gets me nervous causes me to be in the bathroom. I'm VERY worried about my wedding day, I'll probably take 3 imodium the night before. Can you imagine having to go in your dress. I'd be really upset. So glad I'm not alone.

FI has a nervous stomach also. WHen his nerves get to him he takes a prescription med (i think it's s/t called like Liborax) that his GI prescribed. He also takes Nexium every day and that has helped so much. Speak to your dr about your concerns.

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
Me too! I think it's the 'in' syndrome right now - even the Sopranos had it.
I have imodium AD with me at all times and it works quickly. I'm planning on eating bland for the couple days before, but sometimes it's not the food that's the trigger, it's stress. I may wake up and take it just in case on the big day.
Talk to your doc, see what he/she says and make sure to try to get it under control now, so you don't have to worry on your wedding day.
We'll all be fine!!

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
Eat a lot of fiber- especially whole wheat bread - and stay away from milk - that has worked for me the best - with IBS it is hard to get fiber from salad and leaves well too my doctor said

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
hi girls, i also have ibs and it is horrible! my whole day and life for that matter revolves around the bathroom. i have taken numerous meds, but mostly balanacing alot of exercise, water, and no stress, and healthy eating mantains it..sometimes that doesnt even work tho which really sux..peppermint and tea, plus fiber pills, also work wonders, i always go to a great website for ibs sufferers and they have a selfhelp book and cookbook that revolves around foods just for pple with sensitive stomachs and who have ibs. i will try and find out the name of that site its on my home computer..if u have any more q's lemme know..

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
I used to take Nexium and also monoclopramide, because the Nexium would make my stomach feel wierd. I had a minor case of Acid Reflux. Its now 8 months later, and I feel great. I havent taken the medication in 8 months. I still get upset stomachs though, and I still cannot eat what ever I want. I don't think I ever will be able too.
I think the day of the wedding, I will be plugging up. I will take 2 or 3 Immodium, and then just try to watch what I eat.
Bananas and I think white rice are supposed to be binding foods. So try to eat some before the wedding, and I think you should be ok....
I'm getting married in less than 2 months, and im not nervous, but I am excited. I cannot wait for the honeymoon.

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
I don't have IBS, but when I'm nervous (especially when I know everyone will be looking at me) I get nauseous. I can't even talk, and I don't want to eat, but that makes it worse. I've never actually thrown up from nervousness, but I have to lock myself in the bathroom for a few minutes just to calm down. I think my problem is just anxiety, but all the drugs that are out there just make you drowsy. Oh well, who knows what will happen that day.

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
I have the same issue.
You won't be able to do this before your shower, but the few days before the wedding, watch what you eat -- stay away from veggies and spicy food or greasy food. And stock up on Tums and Immodium.

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
Same concerns here...I need to be able to get out of my dress quickly. Gross, I know. I have sensitive stomach to begin with, and stress REALLY gets my stomach upset. Maybe I'll stick a flask of pepto in my garter.

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
I am also worried about a nervous, but for two reasons.
One: I get a nervous stomach and have to run to the bathroom a lot under stressful circumstances Two: I have my period right now and I am getting married on Sunday. It will be gone by Sunday, but a lot of the time, I get bad cramps and the runs a day or two after the end of my period which could mean Sunday!!!

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
I too also have IBS, I was diagnosed about 8 years ago. Same causes, stress mostly, diet etc. Except mine is unpredictable, it either goes one way or the other. Either I am in the bathroom, or just can't go..I don't know which one is worse.. Nexium has been working well for the acid reflux, which i think is my precursor to bad days..but most over the counter stuff doesn't work for me anymore-Pepto, tums, mylanta, pepcid do nada! I am nervous about getting nervous-if that makes any sense?

Re: Does anyone get a nervous stomach??
Wow! What a topic this is! I don't know if I have IBS, I was never diagnosed with it, but I do have irregularity and have the nervous stomach thing and sometimes even feel nauseous if I get too irregular (too much info, probably). Anyway, I have found two delicious and natural cereals...Wheetabix, an organic whole wheat biscuit which soaks up milk like a porridge and Zoe, which has granola and flax seeds and I mix it with yogurt. Every morning I eat it, and without fail, about 20 minutes later, I am taken care of for the day, all clear...again, too much info, I know...but I swear by these cereals. I feel so much better these days overall. But just in case, i carry pepto tablets with me everywhere i go.
