I do crunches almost everyday, but I don't think I'm doing them effectively. Can anyone direct me to a website or a personal routine you have that gives results? I'm committed to doing it for 4 months! I will wear my bikini for the honeymoon!

Do some yoga!!!! In four months you will have firmer abs, guarenteed. One of the exercises we do- you lay flat on the floor with your arms extended to your side. Lift one leg off the floor and let the other extend with the foot pointed about 3 inches off the floor. Do not let it drop. Lower the first leg slowly and raise the alternate leg. Do ten sets of each leg. You will feel it in your lower abs which is hard to tone through cruches alone. Hope that helps!!!!

Thanks for the advice. I am doing cardio (about 30-40 min a day) and I'm eating right (at least I try to). I used to be a member of WW, but now I'm just trying to follow the plan on my own.

I will look into taking a Yoga class at my YMCA and I will concentrate more on the 'squeeze' technique.

I am fine with how my abs are, but my lower abs (I guess the actual stomach area under belly button) is really not showing any change. How does one target that area?

Pilates is amazing for your abs. I also love doing my abs on a stability ball.

if you are trying to loose fat, then doing crunches doesn't do much of anything.

You will loose the fat there the same as if you were loosing it anywhere else. By eating less, exercising more, and putting on more muscle ALL OVER your body to rais eyour metabolism so your body uses the fat on your body for feul. You can't spot reduce fat. You can add muscle to start to reshape your stomache area. But unless you loose the fat by exercising better and eating better at the same time, you will still have the fat over the muscle.

So, I normally go to the cables, with the rope attachment, sit on my knees and curl down to my knees (pivoting at my waist). I do about 100 lbs. It sounds like alot, but it really isn't once you start. If it is hard, try 75lbs. Make it so that you can only do up to 15-20 max per set. any more, and its too light.

Also, try the hanging leg raises, you can use the upright bendch for that where you rest on your elbows.

Good Luck! I hope this helps! And I hope I dsound like I'm lecturing!

No, you don't sound like you are lecturing! Thanks for the information. I do have some fat that I need to loose first in order for any abs to show. So should I not really worry about crunches and just concentrate on loosing the fat first?Im doing like 30-40 min of cardio a day and I'm trying to do weights (don't really know too much about a routine, but I'm doing them).

Oh, for the lower abs try using one of those stability balls. Lay on your back, and but the ball between your feet with your knees bent. Lift the ball up and down.

NO! ALWAYS train your muscles and don't leave any out. Weight training and muscle gain will speed up any fat reduction significantly. I lost 6 lbs of fat and gained 12 lbs of muscle with out doing ANY cardio in 6 months. Not to say that you shouldn't do cardio, I am just saying that adding muscle to your body boosts your metabolism ALL DAY AND NIGHT, not just fotr the hour after cardio. And your body will then need more fuel to keep the muscle alive so you loose the fat.

Good luck! Hope this helps!

Thanks. Do you know a good weight training routine or websites?

Okay, I was telling my friend how I was trying to decide if I should go to my school's gym for Yoga classes or the YMCA. I'm a member of both and they both have different schedules and prices. Well, she's going to be OOT for like 3 months, so she gave me her Bally's card and said I can use it for the Yoga classes. I'm so excited. SSSHHH, don't tell anyone!

you should subscribe aor buy oxygen magazine. They always have sample workout shedules in it. Also try oxygenmag.com.

My schedule is..

Day 1-chest tris
Day 2 -legs
Day 3-shulders/bis
day 4-back

Cardio when I have time, and I add abs to the end of each workout if I have the time.

Do cardio AFTER weight training.

Do you only exercise 4 days out of 7? I am doing 4 out of 7--its seems to be OK for now but I have to incorporate my weights again b/c cardio alone isnt cutting it.

What is your cardio regimen if you dont mind me asking? How long and what?

Re: Does anyone have a really good ab or thigh routine? I need to loose my stomach and my hips!

I almost never do cardio. If I have time I do it, I will. I want to start doing more again, but now my schedule is just too hectic! I have little time to work out lately, but when I am on my schedule that is what I do.

I am already thin to begin with, so When I weight train, my extra fat goes away. You should do cardio at least 3 days per week, so do at least 20-30 minutes after your weights for as many days as you can it into your schedule. You should never just do cardio. You can just do cardio if you already fullfilled your weight training requirements for the week, or if you are just too sore.

This is what I have learned.
