The day of my wedding I though I was so prepared. I was getting ready at my maternal grandparents' house and had lugged all of my necessary wedding day belongings there the week prior. Or so I though, as I was getting dressed, I suddenly realized that my something old was missing. I had never packed my something old, in fact, I could visualize exactly where it was in my bedroom! I was devestated because my something old was a pendant that my paternal grandmother had given to me the last time I saw her alive that had diamond stones from her original engagement ring and an amethyst stone from a ring my grandfather wore when he was alive. My grandfather and I had been very close and he died when I was eighteen. We shared the same birthday and he always called me his birthday present so this peice of jewelery was very important to me. Luckily, my 21 year old cousin who was actually singing at my wedding for our cake cutting song, was available to go to my home, locate the box out of a ton others on my dresser, and was waiting for me when the limo pulled up to the church. I wouldn't get out of the limo until the pendant was pinned securely inside my dress and on the raw footage of my wedding video you hear me telling my cousin that he saved the day. It may sound crazy, but the thought of walking down that asile without that pendant turned my stomach. So to my cousin, Tim, you are my hero. P.S. he did a fabulous job singing our cake cutting song 'So Happy Together' by the turtles.

HUBERT saved my wedding day!! i totally forgot my toasting flutes - stopped her @ my receiving line after the ceremony and begged her bring hers to the reception hall for me!!! she totally came through! she even turned around and went back home to get them - after she was already on her way to my reception - she missed my whole cocktail hour to make sure i had nice toasting flutes!! Re: Does anyone have a wedding day hero?
It was a day after hero...
My cousin and Fgs mother!
We were at the East Wind Inn- we had a car pick us up from the Inn to take us to the airport for our HM. We had all our bags ready... once we started driving, I thought, hmm I feel like I am forgetting something... I made the driver stop to let me make sure we had passports and tickets... I couldnt find the tickets. DH tells me, im sure it is there, lets look closer when we get to the airport. We get there, look in all suitcases- NOTHING.
I call home- had my mom look in my room, she couldnt find it... finally, she calls me back and she says that the plane tickets were in our spare room...
We asked the airline if we could do get on without a paper ticket, they said yes, but it would cost $300.00 more a ticket (we had used some miles that were given to us)
SOOO, my cousin kindly and quickly drove from LI to JFK to bring us the tickets in time for our flight!
(luckily we left early enough for the flight!)

My BMs were really fantastic throughout. Flowers were late, so one of them hopped on the phone with the florist to get to the bottom of it (thanks Conigs). My MOHs were so great about touching up my make-up, and helping me go to the BR!

Re: Does anyone have a wedding day hero?
Wow, these are all such great stories!!!!!!
My hairdresser was my lifesaver. I'd had someone booked to do my hair but then with about a month left to go before my wedding she cancelled on me. I didn't know what to do, I knew everyone else must've been booked!! I ended up going with a friend of my cousin's who had done her wedding day hair. I never had a trial with this woman and only met her once but I have to say the morning of my wedding she surely saved the day!!!!!!! She was right on time, a pleasure to work with, and everyone looked great; I was sooooooo happy!!!!

Re: Does anyone have a wedding day hero?
My florist was booked to put rose petals down the 2 sides of the aisle runner and when I called the church to make sure that was ok, they told me no. I was fine with that so I called the florist to cancel that and they told me ok. When I went to make my final payment I reminded them not to do that and they said ok they made a note. Well the day of they did it (obviously I couldn't get mad because it looked gorgeous) however I did not have anything or anyone there to clean it up and I heard that the church got very upset until DH told them that I told them twice not to do it. Then they were ok with us, but I had no one to clean up the petals and that was all the church said was that we have to clean it up now. Well my friend and limo driver picked up every petal by hand because we did not have anything. Their were SO many petals (my church is the longest church in Nassau County). I did not even ask them to, my friend knew my church said no to the petals so she just started to pick them up after the church was cleared out, and my limo driver saw her so he helped her. Both really saved me or DH & I would have had to do this.
The only thing that I can say was that I almost forgot to put my veil over my face and right before I was about to walk down the aisle my limo driver reminded me and he did it for me.
Needless to say I LOVED my limo driver and would recommend this company to anyone (and of course my friend, but I loved her even before my wedding day).
I was just so happy that neither thing was major and that in the end everything was perfect!

My sister.... she handled all the vendors and ran across the dance floor at lightning speed to handle a little fire alarm situation!

Re: Does anyone have a wedding day hero?
I had my nails done the day before my wedding. When I woke up the morning of my wedding, the 'white' part of the french was chipped and peeling on my left hand!!
My wedding was on a Sunday and we didn't have any slack time! The BM's wife had a home kit for doing her nails and she let us borrow it to fix my nails. Also, she went and bought breakfast for all of us. She wasn't part of the bridal party but she was an amazing help!!
