Does anyone have sensitive ears?

Meaning they can't wear certain types of earrings? Everytime i wear sterling silver or even the sensitve earring types my ears get all itchy and red and then i have to take them off after 10 minutes.
What am i going to do the day of the wedding!?
What about platinum or white gold?

Re: Does anyone have sensitive ears?

Yellow 18K should be better for you.

white gold is really a mix of gold with other metals. The less the gold, the more allergies you will have to other metals.

I am not sure about platinum so I cannot tell you whether it's good or not.

Re: Does anyone have sensitive ears?

I can't wear anything in my ears. Not gold, silver or platinum. Remember those 'plastic' earrings (30 on a sheet...one for each day of the month)...not even those. We bought 24k gold, earrings GUARANTEED not to cause a break out...didn't matter. I haven't worn earrings in over 6 years now...and I have no intentions of ever wearing them again. The last time I did, my ears were infected for 3 months...every now and then, the holes have that stuff in them...eww...FH insists I'm making it up....but I simply refuse to risk the break out and icky ears.

I am wearing my hair down for the wedding in part to offset the no-earrings. I would never notice one way or the other if a bride was or wasn't wearing any....but a HUGE deal was made about me not wearing any by his family....all BS if you ask me. My mom happens to have an aunt who is now 70+ and in all her 70 years, she's never been able to wear earrings...and she keeps trying every so often...but the same old problem every time.

I looked into clip-ons, but couldn't really find any...just for the wedding...and then decided that it's my thing to not wear earrings any way...so why be fake on my wedding day?

The best of luck to you, but with a few months until your wedding, I would not risk it IMHO.

Re: Does anyone have sensitive ears?

I got pierced ears when I was 9 or 10. For years, I could not wear anything else but 24K gold. It actually worked for me. Then, I let them heal.

I had them pierced again in my late teen wearing 24K gold again. It used to be a joke... 'I only wear 24k gold earings'.

Surprisingly, I can wear custom earings now but not the same everyday. I have to rotate them.

Re: Does anyone have sensitive ears?

I tried something similar. It worked but the base covering came off after a while so it did not work.

But after years of suffering and only wearing 24k gold earings (poor me!!), I can now wear any kind of earings. This is very odd but I feel FREE.

Re: Does anyone have sensitive ears?

I have very sensitive ears as well and I can only wear gold earrings. However white gold and sterling silver dont' bother me but I know my mom has the same problem and she can't wear white gold or sterling silver because there is nickel mixed in with the metal and that is what she's allergic to.
