does anyone know a mac genius(the ppl who work on macs)???

my macbook is broken and i need help...i would like to know the problem before i bring it in, so i dont get charged sooooo much money

Need to know what exactly isn't working..

does it turn on?
does it load the operating system?
does it give any messages, in between?

does it crash? if so when? is it consistent?

I'm pretty Mac proficient, but not a computer tech. For a screen problem, I took mine to the Apple store at Roosevelt Field and had one of their mac geniuses look at it. Without charging me, he was able to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, I had to send my laptop to Apple for repair, but it was still under the warranty which was good. No charge to repair. The only downside: I had NO Mac for about a week!!!

If your Mac is still under the warranty or the extended AppleCare plan, you can call AppleCare for help. They'll ask for your Mac's serial # to verify, and they'll troubleshoot the problem over the phone. If they can't fix it, you can make an appt online for the Mac Genuis so you won't have to wait in the store once you arrive.
