Does anyone know about Encephalitis?

Does anyone know about Encephalitis?

Here's the story - don't want to bore with the details - I was in the hospital for almost a week with what the doctors *think* was encephalitis. My tests were all clear but I responded to the treatment. But here's the kicker - I'm more scared now that I'm home than when I was in the hospital. This was never life threatening (except for the 24 hours when my catscan was unclear before the MRI results and we just didn't know what was happening) and I know now that I'm going to be fine. I've just never felt this sick and tired for so long. I think some of this is exacerbated by the drugs they still have me on. Maybe I shouldn't have even posted this but I was just hoping that someone other than my parents or my fiance would tell me that this is normal.

I meant this just to be a short post and it looks like the longest one I have ever written! Sorry!!!

Ohh...Meghan! I'm sorry you've gone through this!
I had West Nile about 3 years ago and went through the catscans, meds, the whole thing. Luckily, it's only threatening if you're very young, eldery or have an immune disorder. What you're feeling is totally normal. You're probably worn out from the meds and just dealing with it!! Please rest and take it easy! You'll be back to your old self in no time!!!

You're very lucky this was not life threatening in your case, because this can be a very scary condition. It's DEFINITELY normal for you to be feeling tired and scared. You're right - it's due in part to the meds you're on, but it's also because you have been through a lot, both emotionally and physically. Your body went nuts trying to control your condition, and it's going to take time (as in WEEKS) to feel 100% again. (Probably not what you wanted to hear!)

Take care of yourself, and don't feel bad about feeling bad!

Thank you so much ladies, that was just what I needed to hear. I even feel a little better now than I did this morning!
