Does Anyone Know all Shower Details?

To be honest I never got the 'surprise' issue of a shower. For everyone to sneak around for 2-3 months & the whispered calls & then someone is almost always bound to slip (& feel bad), I just don't get it. Then the 'we're going to lunch' & a girl knows she's going to have a shower, what is the purpose for the 5 minutes of everyone yelling 'surprise?' But again, that is just my opinion.

Personally my MOH asked me to give her a list of good dates & asked me to narrow down places to 2-3. I feel comfortable knowing exactly when/where my shower is & we then planned the bachelorette party for the same night. At least I know what I'll be doing June 3 & can plan what I'll be wearing, etc.

Yet his cousins (in bp) & my FMIL kind of don't understand & have kind of been grumbling...

Does anyone else know exactly when/where their shower is?

My wedding is a ways off still, and I haven't even really registered. But I understand where you are coming from. I kinda feel the same way.

I hate surprises, and hope that if anyone is nice enough to decide to throw us a shower - that it is not a surprise.

i know nothing about my shower, aside from where it might be...nothing is booked yet, and even when and if it is, i won't know.

i'm torn b/w wanting to know and wanting the surprise....

I know all the details about my shower. I live in California, so I have to fly back to NY if I want a shower.
I don't see why it should be a surprise.

i figured out when mine was... i'm just good at picking up clues
the biggest thing was that i would go visit dh (fi) 2 hours away every weekend, and one weekend my mom kept insisting that i had to be home early on sunday to go to my aunts house for dinner i knew my aunt had offered her house for the shower, so i put 2 and 2 togethre and figured it out... oh, well it was still great! it was just what i wanted- a nice, smaller ( only about 25-30 people) shower at a house. they had finger sandwiches and pasta salads, and it was just nice and laid back and intimate

Cindy, I know where, when, who's invited and I'm even making my invitations. I didnt want it to be a surprise plus I like planning parties and my mom, sister and I enjoy doing it together. I got some remarks from my FI's family but I just told them thats what I wanted and they shut up.

I love surprises, so I'm really hoping no one slips on my shower!! I know what you're saying about what's the point, but I guess you could say that about any surprise party.

I totally agree. I LOVE surprises, my best burthday ever was when my FH threw me a huge Surprise party. It was really so much fun.

Personally, I like surprises, and would prefer not to know anything. Whether or not anyone can sucessfully keep it a secret remains to be seen.

My sister OTH hates surprises with a passion, so I told her what day her shower was, but that was all the info she was given. Her then FH was so mad at me for telling her b/c in his family it is a huge tradition for it to be a surprise. I told him that her feelings were more important to me than tradition (and she was truly grateful).

well, I thought I knew when it was but I was wrong! lol. I thought my FMIL was acting really weird about something we went to a few weekends ago but apprently she wasn't acting weird, I am just INSANE
I HATE surprises and I hate being the center of attention so I wish I knew ahead of time when it was but I'll deal...

I don't know...yet. I think FI will have a hard time keeping it from me. I just want to make sure I am dressed appropriately.

I know the date - but none of the details. Most of my BM's are out of state/country so I had to coordinate a date when everyone could come. I don't mind knowing at all.

I know all the details. I work weekends and all my BM are from OOT. We needed to coordinate. I also picked out the place where it's going to be.

BTW... my shower is this Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know day, location, date, time EVERYTHING.. i am helping out a lot (and even contributing money) that's just the way it is I guess in my family.. many hands make light work.
