To be honest I never got the 'surprise' issue of a shower. For everyone to sneak around for 2-3 months & the whispered calls & then someone is almost always bound to slip (& feel bad), I just don't get it. Then the 'we're going to lunch' & a girl knows she's going to have a shower, what is the purpose for the 5 minutes of everyone yelling 'surprise?' But again, that is just my opinion.
Personally my MOH asked me to give her a list of good dates & asked me to narrow down places to 2-3. I feel comfortable knowing exactly when/where my shower is & we then planned the bachelorette party for the same night. At least I know what I'll be doing June 3 & can plan what I'll be wearing, etc.
Yet his cousins (in bp) & my FMIL kind of don't understand & have kind of been grumbling...
Does anyone else know exactly when/where their shower is?

I just know that it has been booked and that its on a Sunday...since I started working on Saturdays...and thats all that I know or want to know

I know exactly when and where my shower i. I even put the deposit on the place..lol Everyone wanted it to be a surprise but my entire bridal party did not want part of my bridal shower. My mom couldn't do it alone so she asked me to help. The only surprise here is that everyone thinks its a surprise.

Not me, however this has been an extremely busy year for me. I have 3 weddings in June alone- which means Im working around the dates of 3 weddings, 3 showers, 3 bachelorette parties and everything else. It's tough. My mom & MOH have been going back & forth exchanging ideas (& changing dates) because apparently things came up & plans had to be adjusted. I'm probably going to have an idea of when my shower is because I'm constantly checking my registry-not only that, I know that everyone is going to start acting weird- its only natural. I'ts very hard to keep anything a secret nowadays.
Wherever & whenever my shower is... I cant wait

It's a tradition in my mother's family to throw the bride or mother to be a shower. The bride gets her china set (all pieces) or the mother to be gets all her big nursery items. I don't get involved with the details. I just give my Matron of Honor a few dates to choose from, she negotiates with my aunts, and they tell me where to be and when, so it's not a surprise. My FMIL did not want to have a shower for me with my FH family, so I'm just having the one shower upstate with my family, which is just as nice!

Me! Im from wayyyy upstate, and it was decided that my shower would be up in Buffalo (my wedding is here), so I will know! And I think the location has already been picked!

I don't know when or where my shower will be and I don't want to know. I am never surprised about anything and I am really looking forward to being surprised! I told my mom and sisters to make sure they don't let it slip! Although, I must admit I had some input...I gave my sisters I iseas and things I would like at the shower (like the bridal bingo game, so people don't get bored when I open presents)

I have no clue, I'm completely oblivious to these things. I've been working weekends though, so I would assume they would have to ask me for dates unless they plan on calling my boss and asking to give me a day off.

I know when and where, but that's because my MOH is my younger sister and she didn't know what to do so I had to guide her through it and help her narrow down the restaurants.

I love surprises, so I'm really hoping no one slips on my shower!! I know what you're saying about what's the point, but I guess you could say that about any surprise party.
I don't think showers were always 'expected' the way they are now. Not every bride 'automatically' had a shower thrown in her honor, that's why it was a surprise when there was one, bc she didn't know it was coming. But now almost every bride figures that someone is going to throw one for her, so it's not as much of a surprise and the original intention kind of loses its meaning.

I know when mine is because I live in GA. They had to plan it around the time I would come up to NY to finalize everything. I always wanted it to be a surprise, but there's really nothing I can do about it. And ya know what, I won't be able to open up a bunch of gifts either, b/c there is no way for me to get them back to GA since I'm flying up. This is completely non-traditional. Not really how I imagined it, but there's nothing I can do about it!

I know I am having one- I supplied the guest list to my MOH ANd mother, but I do not know when or where. I am fine with it, less for me to worry about and I know my mom wants to do this her way which is fine with me...

I know the date, time, location - and I provided the guest list. There's no use in trying to surprise me - I'm just too aware of everything around me - and my sister (MOH) and mother acknowledged that.
Plus, my sister and FMIL are from OOT.....and I didn't want them to be in town but in hiding so they could simply surprise me! Since it's on a Sunday, I'll still be able to visit with my sister and FMIL on Friday and Saturday.
Also - since FH works every other weekend - it really limited the options of when the shower could be - since I want him to make a guest appearance at the end and help me home with the loot!

I told my mom that I didnt want a surprise so I know where it is and when and what we are eating and who is coming. I just feel like girls always ' know they are going to have a shower'
