Does anyone know anything about hair straightening?? *******UPDATE********
I have been pricing around for to get my hair straighten. I have called
Lemon Tree (which the owner would be doing it) Chemical straightening is $85
Studio 24 in Sayville Japanese is $250 and for the Brazilian straightening is $250
Every where else I call cost higher close to $600 and higher.
What is the difference between Japanese straightening and chemical straightening? I am so confused any help would be great or if you know a good place to go that would do it for a good price. Thank you
**********UPDATE********** I got the chemical straightening done and it took but there are a few pieces that are still wavy can I go to have the Japanese straightening done or do I have to wait now a little while? I am sorry I didn't listen about doing the Japanese straightening instead of the chemical straightening the stylist said this would be better for my hair and he said my hair would be healthier. Now what do I do? I feel like an idiot cause I went in wanted the Japanese and he said your hair is a little wavy and you just need the chemical straightening you do not need the Japanese straightening. So I listened and thought OK it would be better for my hair and it wasn't. I am sorry girls for not listening to you's.

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
I am looking into each one cause I have wavy hair and I want it straight. I figured I would try it to see if I like it and go from there. I am just not sure which one is the best to get. What is the difference between the three does anyone know?

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
DO NOT do brazilian straightening!! the chemicals they use are toxic - people have had some very bad reactions to that stuff!! there was a huge article about it in allure magazine this month.
from what i know, japanese straightening is much safer and lasts much longer - but it's very expensive. good luck!

'O8 Crasher... My coworker just took her a daughter a few weeks to a place in Woodside Queens called Hair Village for Japanese Straightening. She said it was the best thing she ever did and wasn't that expensive. She did a lot of research on it and let her 14 year daughter do it so I will say it is safe.
If you want more details FM me and I can get them for you.

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
My uncle is a hairdresser so I know a little about straightening. He does many Japenese relaxer. The Japenese relaxer is pretty much all day process It is a special type of perm they apply and then they press your hair with a special hot iron that is more then 100 degrees. If you have a perm or highlights with bleach in your hair or already the Japenese relaxer would not be good for you because your hair can break off. In Flushing queens or some places in the city you can get relaxer done cheaper like $200 or $300 dollars. If you do not want to spend the money on Japenese relax you just do a regular straightner.

I have my hair Japanese straightened and I love it! I definitely recommend Japanese over chemical because my sister did the chemical straightening and it didn't work on her hair. Japanese straightening makes my hair so silkey and gorgeous. It is the best thing I have ever done. I go in the city to this place called Hayato and the price for my hair is $250. It doesn't matter how much you spend...what is important is that they use the right chemical...its called Lisio. When calling around for quotes, make sure they use this product. It is the best.
I am going this Sat. to get my 3rd Jap. Straightening...can't wait. FM me if you want more info...I've gone 3 times already!

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
I called a Salon in Sayville and the guy said over the phone that Brazilian might be better for me but I have heard a few things about it and I think I want the Japanese straightening so how do I get him to do the Japanese when he is already set on doing the Brazilian straightening on me? I am now torn between the chemical straightening and the Japanese what is the difference and which one is better and last longer?
Chemical straighten by ISO cost $85 plus $20 for every box need after the first box. Lemon Tree offers this
Studio 24 offers Japanese straightening for $250 and it takes 5 hours.

My first time, I went to Hair Village...it came out GREAT! I would recommend that place 100%. THe only reason I stopped going there is because it is VERY crowded and you do not get personal attention. It took ALLLLL day to get my hair done. Now I go to Hayato on 23rd in Manhattan and I get personal attention. I get a 10 AM Saturday appt. and I am out by noon. Much faster when you are not waiting around for someone to help you out.

Just becareful with just looking at cheap prices. Cheap isn't always good just make sure they are using the proper products. Even expensive places aren't always good. My friend went to a place and they forgot a step and completley killed her hair! So just do your research before comitting to a place or a price.

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
Japanese Straightening is the less harsh of the other straightners. I worked in a shop for 5 years and we use to do this all the time....I don't know where you live but there is a shop in Bellmore called Who Does your Hair?...Nicole does this I believe Jeannette does also...I don't remembr how much but your price is really cheap...be careful because remember you get what you pay for. But from what I have seen people love it and the hair looks so silky! HTH If you have any other question let me know

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
So you ladies think I should not do the chemical straightening at lemon tree even if it is the owner? I should just stick to the jappenes straightening and find a good place to have it done? I really need it done right away. I hate my hair wet and in a clip

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
The only thing is I am saving for a wedding and that is more important to me that is the only reason why I looked into Lemon tree cause I was trying to save money. How often will I have to get this done cause between saving for a wedding and getting my hair done at $250 each time might be a bit much. See I feel guilty when I spend money when I have to save for something important. But at the same time I want to do this for myself. I want my hair to be easier to take care of in the morning. I am still torn between Lemon tree and Studio 24. I am also still not sure if I should do Japanese straightening or chemical straightening. Which will last longer and my make my hair pin straight? Which will make my hair easier to take care of in the morning were I do not have to get up hours before I have to go to work to blow dry it straight?

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening??
Just keep researching and asking people. Find a place that you know people have been to and that they are happy with their results. Try not to feel so guilty. If it's something that you really want do it.

i work in a hair salon... and i know a little about it... if you want to know more i suggest you call a salon and ask to make a consultation... (they wont charge u for that)
japanese is really damaging to your hair.. they do use a flat iron to make it straight... you cant do it if you have highlites in your hair.... your hair will break off.... but it doesn't leave ur hair you just have to get it done every 6 months when the new growth comes in... the only way to get rid of it is to let it grow out or cut ur hair off... but it's really good because you can go in the beach or the pool and it wont strip...
the chemical straightening i just a regular straighten, no flat iron, and it a little less damaging...
the brazillian straightening, i like this one better then again i dont... it's pure kertain which ur hair is made out of... so it makes it feel really good and soft and silky smooth... they use that to put in your hair to make it straight... they do use the falt iron so it makes it pin straight.. you cant wash ur hair for like 4 days... so the chemicals neutralize themselves... it really does smell bad and isn't good, .. the bad side of this... is that it only last 4 months (thats good if you want to try the straighten ur hair) ur hair goes back to what it was... you can't go in salt water, or pool water... but you can do this if you have highlites in your hair
