Does Anyone Know How To Get Involved With Flea Markets and Craft Fairs?
I have a friend who wants to set up tables at flea markets/craft fairs. She knits afghans, sweaters, baby blankets. She also makes hand-decorated cards which are nice gifts. She does calligraphy as well. Anywhere in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens or Nassau would be good. Thanks for any help

Try doing a search on Long Island craft fairs. When your friend goes to craft fairs, tell her to ask around about upcoming ones. Most of them charge a fee to be a vendor.

I would also call all the churches, (Catholic) schools, day care programs, block associations, neighborhood associations, even asking businesses--- in whichever areas she is interested in selling. There are always flea-markets and craft fairs going on somewhere---especially during the holidays.
They can put you on a list, send you info and most importantly tell you when their upcoming events will be.

Also, check the Pennysaver or other local papers. Sometimes groups will be put ads in there looking for vendors.

A lot of thimes the events are held at hotels. She may be able to call the bigger hotels and ask who has sponsored them in the past and then get intouch with them.

some fairs want you to have a vendor id number, some fairs can be expensive to rent a table---i have done a few in the past and found them through advertisements and from signs posted while i am driving

my friend is new to sell sterling silver jewelry. she has done 4 fairs in december! we live in franklin square so she checked the pennysaver and that's how she signed up for the fairs. they charge a fee to use a table. i have to say that Plattdeutche (catering hall in franklin square) has a HUGE fair. she did it 2 weeks ago and made a fortune. also. my stepmom works in a catholic school and they have a big x-mas and spring fair. so she should call catholic schools also
